YES, I like the way it's going. Here's the why. PVP: You said it yourself:
I personally think the biggest problem with Weapon Balancing in our PvP community is us
I don't have an issue with the weapon patches, honestly I don't. In fact, I barely notice them. The "meta" seems more like a psychological phenomenon to me, as everyone uses what "everyone is using". I find the new game modes exciting and entertaining, and I like Lord Shaxx's bounties as they give me a shot at unique gear without having to go into the Trials (which I'm not a big fan of). Sparrow Racing has been a great break (although I've detected a certain pattern, where one rider breaks out in front and the other 5 compete viciously for 2nd place). Those who are spending tons of silver on $1 bags hoping to get a Sparrow are just being fools to themselves, when they could buy the $5 kit and get one guaranteed- just as they could have bought the bag at Halloween which contained a guaranteed skull mask. If you're going to play it cheap and gamble, you have a chance of not getting what you want. That's your choice. I don't blame Bungie for allowing suckers to be suckers. PvE: I enjoy the new strikes, and I don't really miss Phogoth or the Nexis Mind (two of the most cheese-able strikes ever created); nor do I much miss hearing "A cell! From the Prison of Elders!!" Communication: I don't need Bungie to tell me much. And while I'm sure they read what we write, they're wise not to give us more than 5% of what we ask for. Atheon randomly teleporting people was a good example of the game improving, not getting worse- even if "the community" didn't want it. One of the reasons the Crota raid was despised was because it had a specialist role, the sword-runner; and it was possible to do the raid hundreds of times without ever learning that role. I've done it myself. But you can't run VoG without knowing how to kill Oracles as well as how to open the Gates. You have to be a better player to run VoG. That's why the Sisters part of the Oryx raid is one of the best parts, in my opinion; the fact that anyone can become torn, at any time, and become the relic runner, means that every member of the raid team must be skilled at running the platforms and using the relic, as well as using the Aura afterward. I almost could wish that this continued through to the Oryx segment; but then nobody would run the raid. We now have "Relic runners" just as we had sword-runners for Crota. And the longer it goes on, the less chance that I'll do it, because people are more focused on completing the raid as opposed to letting the noob get a new experience. Unless the game forces them to do so. TL:DR; I think it's getting better and better. I can't wait for what's next.
