I just got a PS4 and then remembered I can't play Forza Horizon 2, which stinks because the third edition is arriving in 2016.
So I have some games to choose from, I'm torn between the Crew, DriveClub, and Need for Speed. Which game offers the best Open World to explore, and best graphics and mechanics? Also, I want to be able to free roam with friends online, like in Horizon 2.
Is PROJECT CARS open world? I really want to play with friends.
EDIT 2: I'm torn between DriveClub and Crew. They're both cheap so I may get both. I like the Crew's graphical upgrade and free roam. I have the demo, but I don't like the graphics now, so it better be for the vanilla version, not wild run. Can I skip the story in Crew? I just want to free roam with my friends.
EDIT 3: Open poll! Also, I have the demo for he Crew, so which version of the graphics do I have? https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/181706565/0/0

Driveclub and The Crew are both stellar games, being a racing game fan myself, they offer a ton of variety in their season passes, DC especially as it's only £10 (about 12-15$ for you Americans) and it's got millions of races and tons of great cars with Season Pass content included

Crash Nitro Kart. Hands down.
-
Driveclub is not nearly as bad as people say. Its actually pretty good. Looks incredible as well
-
I enjoyed Drive Club, it's cheap with PS+ too. As for open world, I think Need For Speed does more of that.

Edited by ShingetsuMoon: 12/21/2015 12:43:54 PMI've never played Driveclub so this will be based on the other two. Biggest and most diverse open world? The Crew by a long shot. Most diversity in what to do? Also The Crew. Biggest car selection? The Crew. However it's arcade style driving that's not for everyone. Also actually getting enough money to afford those cars can be a challenge. It's a much better game then people give it credit for but don't expect a realistic driving experience. I love the off-road driving though. Lots of customization options but you can't change any of them. You put a decal on and that's it. You select a color and that's it. No changes. Need for Speed is more realistic and they only have a night mode so far. While The Crew tends to do everything for you, Need for Speed breaks everything down. Front and back tire pressure, handbrake response, fast or slow handling, how much horsepower your car has and all sorts of other stats. It's very cool to look at but could be boring or overwhelming trying to tune overt thing if you want a more laid back experience. Also SO. MUCH. DRIFTING. If you like drifting then Need for Speed is the way to go. Very well done but there is a lot of it. Car selection can feel a bit small but you have greater freedom when it comes to tuning the handling and fine tuning color/decal customization. Both games let you play with friends but I've only actually done it with The Crew which was a lot of fun. I haven't tried playing with friends in Need for Speed. It depends on what kind of experience you're looking for. Both of them are good in their own way but very different from each other. Want something more open ended and laid back where you can just explore for hours! Get The Crew. Want a more realistic experience that focuses more on the cars and driving experience? Get Need for Speed.

Well I haven't played Need for Speed since the original Most Wanted. Forza has been my go to for racing games, Motorsport for racing sim and Horizon for open-world. Horizon is by far my favorite in the series. Number 1 being the best and hopefully they bring a better soundtrack and story to 3 then 2. I only race with T/C off, ABS off, and either Manual or Manual w/Clutch. I intend on upgrading from controller to a racing wheel set up soon so I can switch steering to simulation.

Edited by SniperKitty265: 12/21/2015 4:52:27 AMNeed for Speed is awful and I would recommend that the least. Project Cars is purely track, but it has the best mechanics. Drive Club is probably the best of the 4 with amazing graphics and ok mechanics. The Crew I would say is only marginally better than NFS.

Project cars is strictly a racing sim, only tracks. I played need for speed for a bit, I wasn't impressed with it. The other two I haven't tried yet.
-
I would have said forza horizon, probably my favourite racing game (I don't play a lot of racing games) but, need for speed was never bad to me, also if your for free roam check the crew. It's an open world racing game all across the U.S. Never tried it but it looks cool and it still gets support.
