I am going to start off with a little disclaimer by pointing out that A) I do, in fact, recognize that 80% of the complaints are intended to serve as forum bait, but regardless, I am sick of hearing it all the way around, and B) I also recognize that Destiny is far from perfect. That said, however, I would like to point out the fatal flaws of this "buff versus nerf" issue.
Now to the point.
Prior to the First Nerf War, Destiny was fairly equal in its damage versus protection outputs. Weapons dealt promised damage, armor served its purpose, and abilities did exactly what was expected. Exotic pieces were just that - exotic - dealing or defending unique and immense damages. Legendary weapons and armors were great and able to hold their own in the hands of skilled players. Even that, however, was not the best part. What made Destiny great was the fact that Bungie had concocted a system of checks and balances. For every weapon or armor piece deemed "overpowered," there was another to counteract it. Consider, for example, Thorn versus The Last Word. Even the Grimoire Cards told that tale.
But alas, the expectation of truly mastering the arts of the guardian proved too strong for many, which inevitably resulted in the masses begging for mercy. "Nerf the Thorn, it is unbeatable!" some cried. "Nerf The Last Word, it's fire rate is unstoppable!" others moaned. These are only two of the uncountable groans heard. What happened next changed the game forever. Destiny's creators heeded the cries and began nerfing this and buffing that. Great weapons became all but unusable and once envied armors drifted into oblivion.
For guardians who are new to the tower, this may mean nothing. For many, my argument may be seen as a complaint. But for others - those old guardians who have been present since Day 1, who have fought through each and every challenge or struggle, - this has become very frustrating and annoying.
What do I attribute this issue to? Well, obviously, I hold lazy adventurers accountable for part, as they merely seek the prize without having to work for it. Similarly, I blame all of the Call of Duty and Halo gamers who feel the game does not meet their expectations (which Destiny should not. If you want Halo or Call of Duty, go play those games and leave Destiny to the true guardians). But most of all, I hold the creators at Bungie accountable for striving to please the crowd more than the maintenance of balance within the Destiny Universe.
Is there any way to fix this issue? Maybe. But it will never revert to the ways of old. Personally, I would love to see Bungie revert everything back to the pre-nerf/buff stage and tell everyone to get over it or get out, but that will not happen. Too many updates have taken place and too much has changed.
I have long been a guardian and will continue to be so. I will not ditch a game of quality just because of a few issues. However, I have lost a great deal of respect for the game by so blindly destroying the experiences of using exotic/legendary item and class abilities in order "make the game easier and more enjoyable" for everyone else.
As always, I am open for comments and discussion. Thank you all for your time.

I'd say It really started with the first nerfs to the vex and suros. After that bungie proved they will listen to the community and ever since some just look for whatever looks more powerful to smash into place.
