While they are different the Iron Wolves are dead. They died in the battle before Twilight Gap. The Iron "Lords" died during Twilight Gap. On top of that, we can gather from miscellaneous NPC dialogue that the "Nine" are a force above that of the light. They/it serve they're/it's own purpose.

Can you send me links to anything saying they are all dead in or before the Twilight Gap?
-
Maybe they did die, but assuming they were guardians (and all guardians have transcended death in some way) maybe they found a way to be more than light or just something other than light. (Such as what Xur and other NPC's say the nine are)

Hold on
-
No problem :) i like these kind of fan theory convos. Maybe we can come up with something legit.
-
Okay, so I'm having trouble finding anything on the Nine. But let's make the assumption that they're the one pulling the strings. Releasing Skolas and the like. They work for their one means and help the Darkness or the Guardians equally. Come to think of it, Xur gives us Exotics, and the Darkness is given Skolas. Maybe they helped release Eris because they knew that would bring about Oryx. I think we're on to something.
-
Hmmmm interesting....so the Nine are basically only there to bring balance to The Force? (In this case the light and the darkness) or do they have some master plan for the universe? What if they brought about Oryx to test the will and the strength of the newly resurrected Guardians and really their plan is a bit sinister?
-
I'm thinking more along the lines of a master plan thing. Like they're secretly funding both sides of the war and then they wipe out the winner and reap both the rewards. Two birds with one stone.
-
Ooooh thats good. Thats reaally good. So the Nine are the ones funding both sides here. I wonder what the ultimate goal is then.
-
I have no idea. One can only imagine what the goal of people with that much power could be. If I had to guess though, it would be annihilation.
