This trick requires landfall to work so either have it on or the gauntlets.
During the Shade when he is about to come in with his sword to slam this is what you do:
Step 1: Run to where the shade is entering at so you are at the edge of the "realm"
Step 2: Before he enters jump up and activate your stormtrance so the landfall will hit the shade outside; make sure no teammates are near you.
The landfall will force the shade to immediately slam the sword on you at that very moment, and because you are in mid super, the extra damage resistance will leave you with all health and a portion of your shield still remaining. Congrats, you just saved your team from dealing with unlucky instances where the shade is a prick.
Note: This method means the shade never enters the area where the players are. The reason this works is the hidden effect of landfall of blinding the shade, this has the same effect of shadowshotting him when he is in the slam phase.
Going to get you a video showing it in action in a while.

I run Voidwalker during Oryx because that's how confident I am in not dying. Stormcaller works just as effective, but Sunsinger is for those that want play it safe.
-
Or you could use Sunslinger, As her enters Melee him for an overshild. If something goes wrong you can still self rez.
-
Cool trick, but I'd rather all my warlock teammates and myself have self-revive. Any warlock or titan can just jump straight over the shade right after he enters; doing this causes him to slam, and doesn't waste a super. A super that could be used to revive if a corrupted light is far away and you can't make it back.
-
You can just jump over me when I come in and I would just slam right away no need to waste your super.
-
Or you can just shoot him
-
Sounds interesting. A similar technique with the sunsinger works well. With your super full you just charge the shade and get him to slam. He rarely kills you but if he does you can just self revive. If you can melee him during the charge you get your flame shield and his slam barely impacts you.

Normally i just pop the thing as soon as i can in shade room, and then hit him while hes outside of the bubble teleporting around. Im pretty quick in finding him and i know where his teleport indicates hes going, so everyone just shoots where i go. Does massive damage.
-
I guess I've just been lucky but I've honestly never once seen anyone get killed by the shade.
-
I kick stormcallers. Worthless super in raid.
-
As a sunsinger, I usually take the hit for my team and self res. It also gives more time to kill it.
-
You can jump and melee him if you are a sunsinger running the melee shield, without having to use your super.
-
or you could use a bubble with armor of light...... or perhaps stay away from him..... i get you're point but a better trick it to activate your storm caller as soon as you teleport and then shock him to death with the double time perk, the electricity will also show where he goes next to get DPS out easier as well....
-
You could just sacrifice yourself and self res too
-
Or just do like we do and yell out "everyone is a dainty butterfly and jump around!" Works every time.
-
Hhmmm interesting
-
Might try it.
-
Or don't get hit. Easy.
-
You just jump and melee to get her attention .... Or block with a sword ...
-
...or just jump
