With "The Free Market" being its deity?
Sure seems like it to me. You have people against certain legislation simply because "it goes against TFM" or "it's not capitalistic" without any more reasoning behind it. The amount of fanatical devotion people have to the almighty dollar above all else kinda frightens me, to be honest.

If being an ideology is enough to be considered a religion, then sure.

I'll call capitalism a religion when the left starts to call global warming/climate change/global cooling/whatever a religion.

Dirty capitalist! Where is the hammer and sickle?!

*sigh* I like how all these socialists came out the woodwork

Yes. It was also taught in christian churches back then. I find that odd since Jesus is one of the first people to advocate communism. You salty kids can deny all you want with your spoon fed propaganda, but there is only one way to interpret giving your excess to others and excessive wealthy people it will be harder to get into heaven. I think Russia , a heavy catholic area, did a better job of keeping to Jesus than Americans but that's just me

Not a religion, but there is a certain amount of faith put into believing it is a good option for a nation's economy. The same could be said of Communism or Socialism.
-
It is not a religeon but simply an idea

CAPITALISM IS NOT A RELIGION IT IS THE ONE TRUE PATH TO THE DESTRUCTION OF CHINESE RED SCUM

Edited by Handsome Jack: 1/10/2016 1:21:26 AMIf capitalism is a religion, then I'm the pope. EDIT: You know, there's a lot of jobs out there. And if there's a system where you can make a job out of anything you love and literally be a professional waterslide tester, then that's a system I can get behind.

Edited by robbinnDaHood: 1/9/2016 11:02:21 PMWhat's wrong with being payed what you're worth? If you work harder, you should earn more. If you hold more responsibilities you should earn more, plain and simple.

>liberals Some of the most insane people I have ever met. Anything that doesn't fit there ideology should be banned or its treated like we are crazy

Tbh, everyone has a 'religion' if we're defining it like this. Some set of rules / premises that they won't question and will put before all other forms of argument / reasoning, given the right situation. For some people it's Capitalism, for others it's their holy book, for others it's that 'you should be allowed to hit your kids if they've done something wrong'.
-
Free market capitalists want to free the worlds economies because they believe free markets are morally good and socially and economically beneficial. If a religions goals are to turn the earth into god because it'll benefit everyone, then yes capitalism is a religion. So is any system or philosophy though.

Lots of people on the right treat it as such, until they feel it's impeding on what their "magical book of a floating omnipotence in the sky". Then they couldn't give less of a -blam!- about money and free trade.
-
To some its treated like one.

By some people the capitalism is the whrost thing ever aka Socialims of XXI century, and others is the best sh#t ever (Chile)
-
It's certainly regarded like one by some people.

No, things like capitalism and socialism/communism are called economical systems. Economical systems are defined as "systems of production and exchange of goods and services as well as allocation of resources in a society." Religions are defined as "an organized system of beliefs, ceremonies, and rules used to worship a god or a group of gods."
