It really doesn't. Just because Bungie did that in the Vault of Glass doesn't mean that has to be the mechanic for every hard raid going forward. I think it was a terrible idea including it in the King's Fall raid when you have by far the most team-oriented encounters thus far in Destiny. Couple perma-death with glitches, and you have designed an experience that feels like more of a chore than fun (mainly and especially on Oryx).
I happened to talk about that in last night's video, and I have been surprised by how many people have echoed the same sentiments. My personal opinion is that Bungie should make hard mode difficult in other manners rather than simply relying on perma-death. I feel like holding on to this mechanic is a slippery slope that takes raiding in an undesirable direction. Maybe we can give Bungie something to think about before Destiny 2 arrives.
