actually average kdr is above 1( not factoring suicides). if you think of the simple case of someone having a k/d 2.0 then someone else must have a k/d 0.5, hence the average k/d would be 1.25

I can understand your reasoning. You're averaging k/d ratios instead of your actual kills and deaths. Working it out using a k/d ratio gives a false understanding because you could have 100/50 or 2/1. Example: You play 2 games. Game 1: 5/1 Game 2: 1000/1000 Game one has a 5 k/d. Game 2 has a 1 k/d. The average of the k/d ratio is a 3 k/d whereas the average kills over deaths are about a 1.005 (i think 1005/1000). I'm using this example to make it easier for you to understand and if you can understand this, apply it to an actual game.

I argued this once it doesn't end well, people can't grasp the two averages the one where you take actuall KD and average them and the other one the logical average :/

yeah sometimes reality isn't quite intuitive :p , I was confused at this concept as well when someone showed it to me as well.

wtf is math?

If you faced someone 1v1 and you went 20/10 to their 10/20, the average would still be 1.0.
-
Yep but if they suicides once it would be below 1

Logic fail... A 2.0 k/d can be 2-0, which means the other would be 0-2 Also do your analysis like you did with a 3.0 k/d

Edited by Harket16: 1/13/2016 12:54:40 PMwell technically if someone went 2-0, then their k/d would be infinite and hence the average would be infinite as well XD oh and for the case with someone having a 3.0 k/d then someone would have a 0.33..., hence adding them up gives you a total of 3.33..., and dividing by 2 gives you an average of 1.66...

Edited by adder3: 1/13/2016 1:55:11 PMLol I know this... It's why I said logic fail

lol I'm dumb
