When it comes to kdr , yes it's better to be positive than negative cuz every time you die they get points, really depends on what you play.
In control i take a lot of deaths due to taking zones.
Then you have people who won't get into the fight due to kdr, they sit back and camp with snipers and leave game when they are on a weaker team
And then there is those who took a hit on kdr when they first started playing but are really good now with a neg. kdr

You experience mirrors mine EXACTLY. I sucked at PvP (never really played it before with other games). I started with a .4 last year. Gradually got better, and now my Warlock is ~1.03/4 (just checked Destiny tracker). I averaged 1.5 for the last 5-6 months to get it there. To look at a snapshot of anything never tells the whole story. Is it an indicator? Sure. Is it an explanation or justification of throwing out someone's opinion of something? Never.

Well, mines not negative anymore, 1.05 with a weekly of 1.6 something and mine used to be 0.6
