The only valid excuse to cheese it is to complete the CP with less than 5 people in the fireteam.

Aura passes, first goes to center, aura back to totem. The timing works out to passing the aura at the halfway point each time.

If you mean by using a healing weapon (red death, ToM, suros) or blessings of light over shield to constantly heal yourself without the aura (because you will lose the aura every rotation and have to get it back), that is just as cheesy as "the" cheese.
