The biggest problem with totems is it exposes the weakest player or the not a team player. With people I raid with regularly we all have three rules. Throw grenades at the beginning. Never leave your wing man until the boomers are dead. Kill enemies and wizards while holding power. If all these criteria are met we never wipe. However, we will get a random that will not kill the wizards or leave as soon as they have the power before the boomers are dead. When this happens a mistake will always occur.

Agreed. 2 manning the top knight, also keeps the death singer holder at the totem long enough to switch the brand.

Truth! Totems is always my barometer for the pugs i usually raid with. If you are having problems at totems, you are definitely going to have problems at Oryx. If my group has trouble at totems(more than 2 or 3 wipes) and i stick it out with them, i only stay through sisters and then bail. Not worth the headache.

It's fine for the person with the power to leave as soon as they get it, as long as the person staying kills the boomer immediately. I've never stayed back to kill the boomer before switching, and when I'm the one staying its always a one hit head shot with a sniper. Toughest part of this section is deciding whether to go left or right this time....

See that is the problem. Killing the boomer is easy but people will sometimes miss their shots and that is why we always have the wingman. Two snipers will ensure its death. If the first shot hits you are good. The power holder loses one second. If the first shot misses the power holder can take the second shot or help defend off adds while the brand carrier takes a 2nd or third shot. It makes mistakes more manageable and allows room for error. People that don't follow this easy rule usually results in several wipes with a group of randoms. This measure may seem pointless when all your teammates can snipe the boomer in the first shot but if you get a team that constantly wipes you will know why. This always seems to be the main reason why people die at totems. They don't watch their teammates back. Whats better? Spending 12-20 seconds of extra time on totems or constantly wiping over and over again because you don't want to watch your brand carriers back while he gets off a shot. If everyone followed this rule and left their elitist attitude at the door people would never get stuck here. Im not saying you're an elitist but I have met quite a few when I suggest this method when the team struggles at this one spot. It doesn't matter what side you are on. It will be hard regardless if you don't have teammates all putting in a team effort to kill and watch each others back. Last but not least. This method also eliminates that glitch where the brand is not passed on when the power is switched over. It -blam!-ing happens. You are lucky if it hasn't happened to you yet.

Edited by Liberty WaIk: 1/13/2016 9:03:14 PMI agree with you 90%. The other 10% is when you have two yellow bar knights and one red bar knight come your way and it's the same time you're sniping the boomer up top. Most folks can't handle this. What you do is have a 320 raze sword or 320 truth equipped allowing you to hold 10 or 11 rockets and just help kill boomer up top then you shoot two rockets and clear that crap out or just one shot them with your 320 sword. Remember you can use your sword shield while jumping. Most folks forget that. This is all of course if the middle folks for some reason can't help kill the yellow bar Knights. It happens.

That goes back to rule two. My regulars usually damage the yellow to the point that either the power or brand can take them out with primary. Also a shout out works well too which gives us ample time to handle those knights if one slips pass the power holders.

Edited by Hondaenthu93: 1/13/2016 8:13:13 PMIt also ensures that the brand gets passed... So annoying when someone keeps leaving early. Once you get the power it takes a second or so to pass the brand. I always tell people to stay for the boomer because it almost guarantees the brand gets passed. Plus everything else you said. Oops didn't read your last paragraph at first. Carry on... Lol

Staying till the bomer is dead also ensure the buff hand off happens. Killing wizard knights up top can be an issue sometimes makes me for the hand off.

Same. I always try to get a consensus before we start of whos dropping boomer.
