"Your boss works for me. I think I have all the clearance I need."
-
"Right, let me just-" he opens the door. "She's gone."
-
His eyes flash gold for a second, then go back to normal. "What did she look like?"
-
"She looked like-hold on..." He hears something through his earpiece. "She just escaped on a hijacked ship. She even turned off the tracker."
-
"What ship? If you can tell me fast enough, I might be able to catch her."
Or rip them backwards through reality.
-
"It wasn't one designed to leave the planet's atmosphere, so for now she's stuck here. She'll probably look for a transport out."
-
"Is there a way to contact her?"
-
"The ship's comms are still on."
-
"Can you give me the comm channel?"
-
He gives you the codes to the channel.
-
He accesses the channel, walking away from the two guards. "Hello? Is anyone there?"
-
A feminine voice responds. "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't shut off these comms right now."
-
"Two reasons: A: I'd just pull you into a dreamscape where we could chat, and B: Im the only one who can get you out of this mess."
-
"A, try me, and B, you're a member of FN, there's no way I could trust you."
-
He laughs. "Me? A part of the FN? That's rich. I'm with the Divine Mechanists. The leader, actually."
-
"Never heard of em." I reply.
-
"Doesn't matter. Just know that I'm with the DM, and I'm totally indifferent to whatever the FN's charged you with."
-
"Too bad, I don't trust you. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get off this rock." I shut off the comms.
-
As soon as she shuts off the comm, everything goes black. She feels... Detached from her body. It seems now the man wasn't kidding. "Wasn't kidding, now was I?"
-
"Neither was I." You feel an incredible pain in your head as soon as you make the connection.
-
He clearly doesn't care. "Now, I can even show you I'm with the DM. Just look forwards."
-
"Whether you're with the DM or not, I honestly don't care. I still won't trust you. Now can you get out of my head?"
-
"Technically, we're not in either of our heads. We're in a dreamscape."
-
"Fantastic. Now can I get out of this dreamscape?"
-
"I'm trying to help you. I can help you out of your predicament."
