Great post. Y2 is absolutely horrific.
I'd like to say that Bungie management, decision makers, or whatever they maybe are seriously hurting this game. The hoards of programmers are not to blame. They don't make the decisions, they just code them. Herald Ryan, Luke Smith, that gun guy you mention, they all have a direct hand in ruining a wet dream.
One of Bungie's biggest issues is they're refusal of the MMORPG genre. This has effected communication. MMO devs communicate better as well as plan better.
When IB came out for the first time after TTK released they completely screwed up rewards. They encouraged players to grind for gear and after everything was said and done no one got shit. Bungie's response? "Whoops". Whoops doesn't cut it. Whoops and here's rank 4 and 5 players free <insert item>. People wasted their time based on Bungie's mistake and Bungie did -blam!- all to fix it.
Honestly Bungie needs to cut some decision makers. Replace them with individuals with a clue, the capacity to genuinely accept they can have bad ideas, the capacity to let go of bad ideas, and an understanding of MMOs.

Sorry. My post was for OP.

No problem. :)

You must have forgotten about running around in circles on the map just to collect enough spin metal to unlock ONE perk bubble on your armor. That wasn't fun. TTK has done more good than bad for Destiny. Yes, I do miss the old strikes being on the heroic difficulty playlist but that doesn't mean they are irrelevant. You can go to the legacy strike list and play them. Between encoded engrams dropping like candy and three of coins, you can do the old strikes and still get decent loot. Same goes for the old raids in regards to the three of coins.

I remember running in circles collecting Spinmetal for shit that was worth it. Year 2 gear and weapons aren't worth it. Hell, I've got gear equipped on at least one character that I've never bothered collecting more mats to unlock all the perks.

How about way back in the day when we could trade materials for marks? That lasted for, oh, about a blink of an eye. And apparently this fellow has already forgotten the thrill of spending hours collecting hadium flakes or opening spinmetal with the hope of finding that ultra rare sword element both of which dropped with TTK. So fun...

I remember running that circle quite well, I'm back to it in year 2. I made several feedback posts encouraging making planetary materials a purchased resource. They introduced marks for resources trading system. Y2 took that great idea and -blam!-ered it all the way up. Now that there marks are consolidated, purchase more items, and are less plentiful than the two mark system I am can no longer purchase planetary items because I'm using marks for everything else. Thus back to that no fun circle running. 3 of Coins does not create some magical replay value for old content. Especially when you can spend 25 coins and not see a single exotic.

What made no sense is that rewards were great for the second IB and then went back to crap again

Ninja nerf. NO communication.

We need an insider. We need someone who's fingers are in the RNG pie. We need an RNG revolution. Speaking of RNG, looked at Luke Smith's Twitter account. Saw he tweeted a complaint about HearthStone's RNG... Words fail me on the level of "Omfg". I suppose I "just can't even".

This. So very much this.
