before i begin id like to say i agree completely with every point on this board but let me just say that when i first purchased destiny on my xbox as many other fans of bungies previous halo series that while i heard many people dislike the game for lack of story in its initial release and 2 subsequent dlc i enjoyed the game because story and open world wasnt my priority in a game i think what happened was noone was expecting a game that completely switched gears from what they had been doing for the past 10+ years which was creating closed level fps scifi games with deep story to back it up meanwhile most mmorpgs consist of multiple modes to play {strikes patrols etc} and less of a story mode and more grinding for gear and for the lack of lore just remember that the game people most compare destiny which is warframe at its initial release had no story outside of the tutorial just 'cryosleep has removed your memory prepare for combat' and then 'ttyl bye bye' then it was literally find some backup and shoot some bad guys but it started off with microtransactions to pay for subsequent updates destiny didnt have those on its release so we had to pay for dlc and its slowly getting improved. basically what im saying is all mmorpgs start small and get bigger we just need to be patient and remember its not halo that were playing right now its a game built around playing the same missions to get engrams and become more powerful and to assist new players of the game and other games like this barely have any story or reason to play besides getting more powerful to get more powerful gear
