Elitism a problem in destiny...
Recently i was called an elitist when doing a raid with an lfg team. When forming the team we had 5 318+ guardians and one of them suggested his lowly 309 friend to fill the last spot. Myself and another teammate showed our displeasure in having a low light character join us as we know for a fact that people who are 318+ are skilled and people below 310 are not.
Against our better judgement we let this player in. After 5 attempts on warpriest with the same 309 dying we finally passed it any moved on to golgoroth. There this player died alot. And then when i asked why are you dying all the time to him and that maybe you should raise your level to 315+ before doing a hard raid he snapped back at me you are an elitist.
I dont know why he called me an elitist. Maybe it was because i was staying alive and he was dying alot. Then he said that those requirements arent needed to beat hard mode and that is elitism because i have a higher light than him.
I am not an elitist but i do believe that one player is better than another based entirely on his gear. Its not my fault that he isnt skilled enoughto get to 315+.

Edit: we were wiping after the guy in the video missed grabbing the gaze causing most of the team to get wrecked.

Yeaaaah 3 of your guys went down (who's 318) while the 4th was a 309 who went down 4th. Also, isn't this defaming right here? Pretty sure this would get ninja'd

Little skill required to to get light levels. Only time and luck required. Bad player is bad player regardless of light level. I've ran hard mode at under 310 light. It a good deal harder but still possible so long as everyone works well as a team. This raid is largely about coordination over raw skill or gear. But yeah there is a such thing as too low a lvl for a raid. It's based on individual skill. That particular player was too low of level for hard raid given his skill.

1 ReplySkill is more important than light. A lot of 318+ players are terrible, most can't even jump in the raid. Light level comes down to luck and nothing else. I'm 320 and 319 on two characters. I know people with 10+ more completions than me that are sitting at 317-318.

Had he been 315+ he still would have died. However there's literally no need for 315+ as a 305 is perfectly fine up to oryx and 308+ is perfectly fine for oryx [spoiler]320, 318, 318, when I swap guns around. With 59 oryx completions. Before anyone tries to claim LL = skill. It doesnt[/spoiler]

Even when I was far below 310 my friends (even the ones who are 316+ even up to 319) kept picking me over other higher light people for trials and raids. Even hard raids. Because they think in good. They think I'm skilled. And I can still out perform one of you high light, high ego asshats

Actually you know how hard it is to even get to 310 with how bad the game -blam!-s people over??? Skill may not be what you have. Might just be luck that you was able to get that high BEFORE any of the problems began
