No company ever gets profit from paying dedicated servers. There is no way to make money from it.
However some have no alternative than using dedicated servers because of the scope of their games, anything involving more than 16 players needs dedicated servers, 16 players is the limit of p2p (guess how many players we can have in the Tower at the same time? ;) )
It all depends on how much the developer/publisher is willing the spend or what quality of experience they want to give to their gamers.
There are smaller lesser known games that use dedicated servers and could probably do well with p2p (Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 2, etc), but they chose dedicated servers to improve the player experience and even to introduce things only possible with servers (like World Tendency in Demon's Souls).
Your role as a moderator enables you immediately ban this user from messaging (bypassing the report queue) if you select a punishment.
