Not sure if this is bait or not, but I agree with several people below. Bungie COULD afford dedicated servers, but it would be several thousands of dollars per server.

  • It wouldn't be several thousand per sever. Rather, each server would cost in the low hundreds, and they would have to buy very many of them, and pay monthly

  • That would have to be one HELL of a deal. My iPhone cost several hundred dollars. Heck, my Xbox One was in the low hundreds (so is a PS4). I'm going to guess these babies need to be dense and resilient/redundant. You can't get those qualities at a low price without: -Selling one's (or several other's) souls -Sacrifice to a god -Building them yourself, using chimps, you paid with bananas -Robbing someone -Making a wish (genie, falling star, or otherwise)

  • If I had to place my own money on betting which game developer has made the most money in one year post-2014 it would be on Bungie, if not bethesda
