I sign this wholeheartedly. I can completely agree with you on the difficulty of using non-meta weapons. I see myself as a fairly skilled player, not the best but far from the worst. Personally, I love Hawkmoon. I know how to use it, as in good weapon combos and strategies for it. It's impossible to use in this SBMM, even from me. Last Word, Doctrine of Passing and Thorn just destroy it.
The way I see it: I'd prefer someone to be invincible due to their skill rather than them being invincible due to their connection. This game was never meant to be overly competitive in regards to the Crucible. Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris exist for the sake of competition.
What Bungie should do is revert normal Crucible to CBMM and create a SBMM 6v6, 3v3 and Free-For-All playlists for the people who really want to have competitive games that have weight to their performance. It shouldn't be very difficult to get an ELO score for players, as third party sites, such as destinytracker.com, already has ELO scores. Bungie just needs to track them and give players ranks based on the ELO scores. This would fix the Crucible's main matchmaking and make it far more enjoyable, even without the weapons having any balance.
