I think it should take more than even all that to even legally own a handgun. Guns are generally pointless and shouldn't be handled by civilians who don't use them unless they have extremely carefully done background checks. Maybe that's already the case. Who knoooows.

Alright scenario time you are alone in your house (no pets) and someone breaks in and is wielding a gun you don't have a gun... What do you do?

Call 911. Thankfully, they won't have a gun though. The hypothetical is appreciated, but missplaced. It's intended to keep out of the hands of people who will attempt to rob you with guns. To stop the black market in America (as best as we can, pertaining to guns), to stop shootings.
