Agreed, just listening to the college kids that supported his notion of a completely free college education don't get it. News flash, college isn't for everyone. Forcing other people to pay for your education is ridiculous. If you want a free education, the military offers a GI Bill that will cover 4 yearsof college, you can enlist for more additional college money on top of that and for Veterans the VA offers a program to do 4 MORE ADDITIONAL YEARS of college education like graduate school. There is a free option for an education, you just have to work for it.
To those whining about the billionaires or top percent don't pay enough, look up your facts first. Those paying over $250,000ish are taxed at around +30%. That increases as a persons income increases to the point where millionaires are taxed at around 40-60% of their income, depending on that source/tax laws. The sad fact is people have degraded from understanding this fact (1940-50s) to whining that others are paying enough/demanding free stuff they haven't earned. Sorry but you born in America or here on a visa/illegally does not automatically entitle you to stuff. Your perpetuating the biggest problem in our generation and that of those coming into their teens, a sense that they are entitled to something that they didn't earn.

There is so much wasted potential in people who can get into college, but isn't able to afford it because of their family background. Many people take your suggested solution of entering the military so that they can afford college. You say that this perpetuates the problem of our generation of feeling entitled to what we didn't earn, but don't you see that that's what all the wealthy kids have ALWAYS been entitled to? Why is it okay for them and not for the rest of the country's citizens? Pooling a percentage of the ENTIRE country's wealth and putting it into the future of your country and its' citizens is not such a ridiculous notion.

First your talking about less than one percent of the US population has ever served in the military, that's not many people taking that option. Second, a wealthy kid going to got that money through family doing something to earn if. If it was through lottery winnings or luck, accounting for another percent smaller than one, that is the arguable piece. Your not entitled to a free college education like your not entitled to just wake up one day and say I'm wealthy and boom it's there. Kids that have that got it from someone else's hard work, in one fashion or another. Telling people they have to pool there money, taxation, to pay for every single kid to have the chance to go to college, regardless of the fact 60-70 percent of kids that start college end up in an unrelated field or flat out don't finish, is a waste. Kids that want college, there's grants, tuition assistance, military service or get a job and work through it. Is the university system broken in terms of what they expect a kid to pay for college, yes. But the solution to that isn't in forcing others to pay that cost for them.

I don't have anything against people leaving their wealth to their kids. (Putting aside people who earned their enormous wealth through historical injustices). What's breaking the system is that they keep getting richer from it, and the poor are getting poorer due to ridiculous fees, and lack of social help for basic things like healthcare (you know, things that happen because that's how life works, but you can't afford to pay for it), and the lack of a living wage. I don't know how a first world country can be okay with ANY of it's citizens not being able to earn a living wage. I don't think it's okay for good, hard working, intelligent people to be refused an education because they can't pay the ridiculous tuition, or have to spend the next 3-5 years after graduation paying it off. Everyone needs an equal chance at a start in life. That is how you contribute to a better future for an entire country. I don't think it has to be "free", just subsidized; and also only for the first 4 years (or however many years the degree normally takes) to prevent people from abusing the system. I think that's reasonable.

I'm not a democrat; I will never be a democrat. Most of the policies proposed by the left are typically so off the wall and completely lacking of any common sense that it's comical. As for the notion that everyone is entitled/ should have college available to them for free is ridiculous. For ANY young person that truly wants college, has the ability through hard work. But alas, college isn't for everyone. With that said; expanded education is something that should be made available. Technical schooling or community education IS something that MUST be made readily available. If we as a nation are to end this drought of unemployment and government reliance, we must educate those that choose to better themselves and are unable to due to their personal situations.

But here's the thing, unemployment is hitting decades low numbers, for blacks and all other colors, also I don't believe in color or race or whatever. Your a nationality, to view yourself as a color only adds to segregation in the same since it's ok for there to be a BET or image awards or any color history month. All of this perpetuates a system in which group A feels oppressed or mistreated and rebels against other groups. I digress lol

I would agree with that. Until the victim mentality is given up, we can never become a nation where we self identify as Americans above all else.
