College isn't for everyone. But college should be available for anyone able to get in. There is so much wasted potential in people who can get into college, but isn't able to afford it because of their family background. Many people take your suggested solution of entering the military so that they can afford college. You say that this perpetuates the problem of our generation of feeling entitled to what we didn't earn, but don't you see that that's what all the wealthy kids have ALWAYS been entitled to? Why is it okay for them and not for the rest of the country's citizens? Pooling a percentage of the ENTIRE country's wealth and putting it into the future of your country and its' citizens is not such a ridiculous notion.
