You realize when they say "we" or "the players", they don't refer to 100% of the community. They are more than well aware that there are some people in the community who disagree, which is why many of them welcome these disagreements to see how their own solution or thoughts might be flawed.
The mistake you made was assuming they assumed leadership role for the community When in reality, they are simply a big source for the community in general to tell of their complaints, so that they can get the word out in a bigger way.
And tbh, watching datto's videos, I personally find most of his points very valid points to think about. I don't necessarily agree with everything he might say or think about the game, but that doesn't mean I have to assume his points aren't valid either.
You have to consider both sides of the spectrum before making a big assumption like this.
