As always, if you're getting kicked from groups because you lack a certain subclass or weapon, your light is (in their opinion) too low or because you're too young and you're at least a decent player, you don't want to play with that group. These are crutches that below-average players use to validate their mediocrity.

So going on a job interview without the proper requirements will get you said job huh?? It's a crutch to be qualified for a positions is what you're saying...
-
If someone isn't contributing as much as they should be, you should replace them.
-
By crutch you mean something that makes the raid easier and less stressful to complete. Am I wrong?
-
Players who take characters into raids without subclasses unlocked are the literal definition of scrubs. It's the easiest and most important thing to accomplish in the game.
-
Eh. I just hate sunbreaker. Never liked it. It was a crutch and striker was 5,000 times better. Never saw its value of striker in pvp and defender was too valuable in pve imo. Is that a proper excuse in my case? Also I don't play my Titan too much (unless it's because a bubble is needed, I wanna goof around with friends cause striker is perfect for that, or I just want some gear)

-
If the crutch allows me to complete the raid faster I will take that crutch all day long.
-
Or ppl don't want to waste time with ppl that can't even lvl up their most useful subclass. Some ppl don't have all day to do a raid
-
So next time I make a group and we reach oryx I should be like Okay I want two titans in the middle with foh ready to kill the ogres Okay hunter activate bladedancer and go generate some orbs before the knights spawn If defender is a crutch -blam!- it I rather have a crutch than Fist of Havoc, Bladedancer, Gunslinger or even Voidwalker (even though they have some use in the raid)
-
No. You should be like "Alright, everyone on plates kill ogres and knights. Everyone on the ground kill adds, starting with acolytes. And then help with knights if needed" Just like doing normal mode, except with knights. No bubble needed, no malice needed. Just players who aren't bad.
-
Edited by Heidegger: 2/3/2016 4:47:41 PMIf only LFG worked that simple. As a titan I prefer using my full auto raid scout/raid sniper/ raid heavy machine gun to kill ogres. Only time I run malice is on my titan to give my plate holders a break(if they lack the skills to do what you mentioned). I can agree with the weapons not being needed but I rather roll my chances with my thunderdome, its to useful to not have.
-
I use Red death at oryx. There's really no difference between one mailice and six. Bubbles are only needed for one strategy. It's just that lfg players are stuck on that one, simply because its the most forgiving. Any strategy besides that, really doesn't even need a super. Maybe six guys with nighthawk wiping out ogres & vessel just for lolz. But needed? Neh.
-
Says the guy using Red Death, the ultimate crutch weapon
-
Lol "its not a crutch. It maximizes my usefulness" And preferably I use a dis-43. So. There's that. I'm talking about doing oryx with the OG start, with no malice, and this guys calling out red death. Lol.
-
That's great and all, but when my fireteam sucks ass I'm not gonna be using fun load outs, I'm gonna have my malice, 1k yard stare and blessings bubble with illuminated and bastion. About 20% of players never shoot the ogre by their platform, just scope at where their knight will come out. And that's fine, because me and my Titan buddy will melt the ogres and be sure that the first three knights are dead. Some people may call it a crutch but sometimes I feel like it's propping up the whole group. And as to the original post, yeah, you should get kicked rather than carried. I'm sure there were other reasons op got kicked, and his inability to maximise his usefulness is a final straw.
-
Like I said, its only needed if the group is bad. Because it's the most forgiving strategy. Just be aware, if someone needs that strategy, they're the bad player. Also, a striker can be used to tank the shade's slam, just as a radiance can, more reliably than a bubble, and all while dealing damage. And have one of the best grenades for keeping the ogres where you want them, or one for high dps. So if you already have 2 defenders, and a third titan is running striker, wait and see.
-
I know what you're saying, I will play striker too if there's two other Titans (who don't suck), at least up to oryx, because it's fun. But he didn't get kicked because he was using striker, but because his team needed him for something, and he couldn't do that. If they kept him in they may have never finished it, and that's bad for all parties. If op wants to kill oryx, he should then make his own group, specify he needs at least one Titan who has maxed defender (something he hasn't done) and go from there. You can't expect to be carried. I'll try to carry rubbishy team mates if I can, but you should pull your own weight.
-
Edit : I was not the only titan, There were two other people with defender so why did they need mine? edit 2 : You can finish kingsfall withought a bubble, it just makes it easier for you with weapons of light. edit 3 : you can not always depend on defender, You can do any raid withought a titan bubble. Like I said THERE WAS 2 TITANS, why can't they just pick them?
What?
-
It basically comes down to some people wanting to complete a raid in as small a time as possible. Does it suck that he got kicked? Kinda But would the team be more guaranteed success with the extra player bringing that extra bit to the table? Absolutely Maybe these other guys are not that great and need the extra help, something op could not necessarily provide. Also, have fun killing oryx with no bubble with some lfg randoms, seriously, try to find five other people willing to do that on the forums. I know that that's not the point in his getting kicked, as yes, there were other Titans, but don't make a point which is utterly ridiculous.
-
Bubbles are only needed for one strategy. It's just that lfg players are stuck on that one, simply because its the most forgiving.
Did you read all of this? Or just pieces? Like I said, if a group is requiring this stuff, they're the ones who are inherently bad. If one of the other titans (defenders) is bad enough that they can't handle the middle, why is the titan who doesn't even have defender the one getting kicked? A striker surviving on his plate and filling his role is just as useful as a Nightstalker doing the same thing. The person failing should be kicked for a replacement. Not someone who just coulda been the replacement but doesn't have it leveled. Disclaimer: I never kick anyone. Even for being extremely bad. Example was to make a point.
-
Yeah, I never kick anyone either, but I don't love bringing randoms I don't know through something that is legitimately quite difficult/frustrating with a lot of the groups you end up with on the forums. Not having defender upgraded screams inexperienced in pve, I personally wouldn't kick them, I agree you should give everyone a chance but if I wasn't leader and they got kicked I would probably be happier if we got a more experienced player so I can see where the kicker is coming from. I don't get why you're hung up on the bubble thing, we both agree it isn't the issue in this case, they had two defenders anyway, we both agree that it is possible without a bubble, but there is a certain expectation that for end game content there is a strategy that will come to the forefront and will be used as a standard to make sure that we don't have to spend half an hour discussing strategy before each fight every week.
-
A different strategy is uncommon, and not gonna happen often if ever with an lfg group. I was simply giving reasons that the group is just as bad (if not worse) for needing more than 2 bubbles (one to be honest) than the op is by not having defender. For the 8&8 one titan with with blessing is all that is necessary in the middle. The other can be whatever class they want. (Both using mailice) Or one titan with weapons if they're slaying with a different weapon. Nobody deserves to be invited in and then kicked before even hitting the ground. Basically ever. I hope it's clear that I understand the reasoning. But anyone who cares that much about how quickly they finish, should care enough to have a team of six, and finish everything Tuesday morning.
-
Perfect strategy, well said.
-
Bullshit. Defender Titans and Nightstalker Hunters are extremely useful for high dps during boss fights. That's a silly opinion to have. I've completed the raid over 60 times, haven't failed to complete each challenge 3+ times each week, and I usually run relic, gaze, and hold brand. I can do any role in the raid with ease on any character. I am hardly a scrub, or a newb. Far from incompetent. And I would have removed him from the group, as well. There is no need for a striker Titan in King's Fall. Whatsoever. Sunbreaker, sure. But Striker, no. BoL and WoL are tremendously helpful during Oryx, and if you aren't using them, then you're just making the fight that much harder on yourself. It has nothing to do with incompetence and everything to do with maximizing dps and efficiency because no one wants to take forever on the raid, when most experienced raiders have done it 50+ times.

Edited by QuiscalusMajor: 2/3/2016 11:44:12 PMstriker can be great for Totems (tether plus FoH in the middle, awww yeeeeeahhhhh), Golgoroth (adds creeping up on you in the puddle? a quick FoH and you're back to DPSing) and at Oryx (clears out the Thrall dance floor when he regains the Darkness quickly and efficiently, and it also can take care of pesky adds in the Shade. i had joined a team that had four or five Titans last week and the leader asked me to run Striker... i thought he was crazy too, but it worked out surprisingly well. just throwing that out there.
