Any team that needs a certain subclass to beat the raid is not worth your time anyway. By now the raid is easy enough to play around in and have fun.

Never played destiny on this account. Hiding your stats like this tells me you either have total shit stats in raids or are horribly under experienced or both. While no, you don't "need" a defender titan to complete the raid it does make it smoother and faster. Anyone that is too lazy to max out something as simple as a subclass I can't be bothered to raid with.

I have done the hard raid on all three characters every week since the raid came out.
