Edit: Down voted because I'm not following the band wagon of hating, lol. I'll never understand players who just pve, I never get any thrills or excitement from A.I killing and the game's story is just weak. I honestly can't understand why that is so fun, maybe it is cause I am naturally attached to PvP since it's just more fun and compelling to me. I guess when I want to shoot an A.I to get more story content I just play an offline game. I do say though, it needs new equipment, new exotics, new vendor gears, hell even new passive perks on weapons/armors can change things up a notch, doing a new raid or updating old content that is just alternative of what we have already wont give me that drive to try it. PvE related, I'm externally motivated (I need a reward to do it). I need a reason to do it, I expect new equipment for completing a task. Well in the end PVP is the actual endgame content, once you get all the necessary gears + light level, that's all there is to really do.

  • i play both PVP and PVE (mainly PVE) when playing PVE i enjoy PUZZLES PLATFORMING playing with power (fully leveled up gear) a chalange exploring and finding new stuff ( i love non liniar jumping puzzles that bungie keeps taking out of the game) jumping around outside the map is more fun then i can imagine. when i play PVP i enjoy staying alive not dieing flawless trials. teamwork

  • As I've mentioned in other posts...............PvE is the ONLY reason Destiny ever existed in the minds of Bungie all those years ago, and its this PvE gameplay that caused all the hope and the hype! Guardians, together.....joining forces to battle the Darkness Not campers with sniper rifles finding spots and shooting guardians whom spawn into kill boxes on pathetically built PvP maps!

If you enjoy Crucible good for you, but it is, and was advertised to be a very tiny part of this game. You may enjoy it but I think it's garbage. This game was advertised from the very beginning to be a PvE centric game with a focus on social gaming and with some some MMO aspects. PvP was advertised as a small part of the game you can jump into whenever but as a side activity from the main game. The game we were told we were buying was a PvE game first and foremost.

  • And I never understand the thrills for PvP. I'm playing destiny almost since launch and my Crucible rank is... ZERO! All quests that involves PvP are getting dust on my characters. Bottom line? People are different and have different tastes.

  • try elimination. It is electric. I am not a pvp player. I do it for iron banner or when bored but Elimination is AS exciting as Raiding. Elimination is the practice mode for Trials. And no i have never played trials not even once. Also Salvage can be fun you will notice a lot more balanced fun play in pvp when they introduce the solo player mode so you cant get teamed up against a fireteam No lies only truth

  • Have you ever played a real shooter on a john carmack engine? That pvp is a joke for the casual call of duty generation. The ai is better than 99% of the pvp player brains. Watch youtube or twitch. Brainless kids. Play a real clanwar for thrills on a god platform with a real game. Pvp playing console kid

  • To give credit where credit is due, the gunplay in this game is just plain fun. Playing PVE gives us that, whether it's by playing co-op or just helping fellow guardians while patrolling. I just prefer working with my fellow guardians, killing common enemies, rather than killing my fellow guardians.

  • I think it's different for everyone, however Destiny was made with PvE as the focus. While you're right in killing AI isn't as dynamic as another human player, it's the co-op aspect that I personally get elation from. I played this game with my IRL friends and it was such a great experience. Coming off the back of playing Gears of War with them it was already something we were used to, though FPS isn't our style of choice, the variety of classes made it easy for us to get over that. The first time we successfully raided (I say successfully because the actual first time we tried to open the vault as a fireteam of 3 at level 25 we got squashed) was an amazing experience. It was true happiness when we actually completed it something like 14 hours later and then there was hard mode, urgh so good. We love a challenge always have so anything difficult in co-op is right up our alley. Gonna be honest I never even tried crucible for the longest time because as I said, I'm not a big FPSer and I'm not in the slightest competetive. Add to that that I hated Halo PvP and I just steered clear. Of course since then this has changed, but PvP doesn't give me anything like the co-op experience does, probably because in co-op PvP it's hard to get people to work together. It's like CoD where everyone just does they're own thing. I'm just not into it. Anyway to each their own, but the devs need to understand they sold this as a PvE experience, I don't think many want to "Become Legend" in the Crucible.

  • I think what you're shooting at is subjective based on what mind set you have. Some prefer PvP some prefer pve, it's simple when it's boiled down.

  • Agreed regarding the subjective preference for what you want out of the game. However the game has a story, patchy but it's there and the end game content is PvE. PvP exists in a way to strengthen this. Shaxx and Zavala created the crucible as a way for Guardians to hone their skills against the darkness. I can't remember whether it was the Iron Lords or Saladin, Shaxx and Zavala who created the Iron Banner but this was for the best of the best to clash and again become stronger earning the accolades of the Iron Lords. The Trials of Osiris...... alright gonna be honest I actually don't know why the Trials are a thing, but they're to do with Osiris who is another recurring name in the story. The PvP accompanies the PvE story rather than stands apart. But yeah a lot of people can play this game without a care for the PvE and that's fine. I just don't want the devs to forget their priorities.

And some give a -blam!- about a pvp shooter on a console played with controllers in front of an tv. Autoaiming casual shit gameplay. Why should a real firstperson shooter fan play on a console. With no gameservers. With no comunity maps. The personal computer is the platform for real shooter. The console for pve fun.
