People really consider edm as music? Last time i checked music was an expression of ones feelings and emotions through their instruments or voice, not through a computer which generates sounds for them.
People really consider edm as music? Last time i checked music was an expression of ones feelings and emotions through their instruments or voice, not through a computer which generates sounds for them.
Is a computer not also an instrument? Many people are not talented in quickly being able to move their fingers or hands with precision to create live music. Therefore they do it on a computer, which generates the same exact sound. That's like saying looking up a song on a computer means that particular song is no longer a 'real song' by your definition, as the sound waves were generated and processed through the computer speakers. Your definition is invalid, here is google's definition: vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. Please take note to 'instrumental sounds' as there are synthesizers on a computer that can and will imitate the sound of say a piano.

Edited by Art Vandelay: 2/11/2016 10:26:18 PMThis stupid answer is the reason why music is getting worse over the years. Music now just lacks the passion that it had before. It was always positive sounding even with negative lyrics. Everybody enjoyed it and felt happy listening to it. Nowadays people are always arguing about it and trying to convince other people that its good just like what youre doing. If it was good then more people would like it and less would dislike it. But thats not the case and for the simple reason being is its just not as good anymore.

So your logic is if it's popular it's good? Wow.

Edited by Art Vandelay: 2/12/2016 12:38:46 AMMy logic is there's more people who dislike modern music and talk bad about it then there is who dislike older music. Not popularity. And most of the popularity modern music gets is driven by hate anyway.

It makes you seem like an old hard headed fart to say that the only way to show emotion is through voice and instruments... Really? Some edm music I agree is just party music but if you weren't so close minded you would see that there is music with heart and passion but Idk if you are open enough to listen to it.

I like hearing instruments. I like hearing tones. I like hearing the bending of guitar strings. I like hearing energetic vocals. I like hearing soft vocals. Vocals that capture the right mood of the song. These are things you just can't replicate with technology. You call me close minded for not listening to EDM, i call you close minded for actually listening to it. You just don't understand...
-
I also listen "regular music" so no sir YOU are the close minded one. If you want to see an example of what I'm talking about listen to this and tell me there wasn't emotion or heart put Into it. https://m.soundcloud.com/shelterdnb/shelter-two-of-us

One could easy arrange that with real instruments and make it better. The piano sounded pretty artificial

I disagree. I think EDM allows for music with meaning, faster. I do agree that some personal thoughts can't be displayed through EDM, but, I think it still has a meaning!
