Don't get you hopes up for the larger expansion in 2016 being free. The one in spring though sounds like it might be based in my interpretation of the update

Noted. Taken King thought was a disaster with my friends especially how they sectioned off non- TTK purchasers. I lost a lot of clan mates with TTK. :( That's why I hope it's free. So that I can just tell my friends to buy TTK and say all this other stuff comes with it too.

Understandable on your part for sure! I am assuming IF the spring content is free some things (e.g increased light level) will require TTK so hopefully it works out for you. Also if you haven't been already I'd keep an eye out for sales of the physical version of Destiny that comes with TTK. Amazon is currently selling it for 39.99 which is the same price as the DLC alone but I'm willing to bet it will go on sale at some point. Maybe that would entice your mates to make the journey back!

Some did buy them on sale others it didn't convince them. They figured no matter what I said that the new epansion if any were going to make them pay more money after the Taken King. I lost of lot of buddies to just playing other games. Bear in mind I really really enjoy this game and I've purchased every DLC and still play daily or bi-daily.

Hmm, well it's entirely possible those that weren't already swayed may never be. I share your feeling about this game and even though I've taken a few weeks off here and there for other games I do find myself currently playing destiny multiple days a week. Good luck with trying to get everyone back!!
