I actually tried this during Doubles and it set my ammo to 0 when I switched weapons, surprisingly - was only expecting to lose half.
Yet for some reason it still works with Sidearms? They really should get on this nonsense.
EDIT: Sniping with Icebreaker isn't even that hard, I actually do pretty well with it. Fact: It has fairly decent AA due to it's maxed range and does more body damage than the stare.

Before year 2 i had a 22.0 kd in pvp whit ice breaker

You're supposed to switch weapons when you die or in between rounds. If you change weapons while alive in PvP, then you'll lose all your special/heavy ammo.

Ah. For a while it was only half, I thought that was still the case. Yeah they really should change that exploit ASAP because that's dumb...

That's only in PvP though. If you're doing PvE and you switch special weapons, you'll lose half your special ammo. But yeah that icebreaker exploit is annoying. I came across teams using it to get ammo in trials yesterday.
