Back when he had me in that chamber... [b]Hayden[/b]: Thing? What kind of thing? [b]Zale[/b]: Was it a cool thing? [b]Liz[/b]: No, it was.... Strange.... A figure. Covered in shadows. It [i]looked[/i] like a walking shadow. And its voice... It was chilling. Like a knife being held to my ears. [i]Liz looked up at them. The two were wide-eyed, shocked by what she was saying.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]: Sooo you forgot to take your meds this morning? [i]Liz smacked him upside the head, laughingly. The two continued to stroll down the hallway.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]: Do we really have to do this? [i]Zale is slowly dragging himself along behind Hayden and Liz.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]: What's wrong? You're not in the mood for ceremonies? [i]Liz and Hayden laugh at the Hunter.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]: Haha, very funny... All I'm saying is we could be back in Crucible training instead of spending a half an hour picking up a gold star from the headmaster. [i]Liz turned back to look at the Hunter.[/i] [b]Liz[/b]: Zale, it's his way of showing appreciation. And after all we've been through, I'd just about say that we deserve it. [i]The Hunter waves her off as they make their way to the auditorium entrance. Just before they open the doors, though, a Warlock and a Hunter come flying through, pushing past the three of them.[/i] [b]Flint[/b]: Scuse me! [b]Sunny[/b]: Sorry! [i]The two students run down the hall and disappear around the corner. When the three turned back to the entrance though, another Hunter was standing there. Zale looks at the Hunter.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]: Oh god. [b]Blades[/b]: Zale?! [i]Blades eagerly runs up to meet them.[/i] [b]Blades[/b]: What's up, man?! How've you been! [b]Zale[/b]: Heyyy Blades. Pretty good... How're you? [b]Blades[/b]: I'm good man, I'm good! This is so awesome that you guys are getting an award! How did the mission go?! Did you get to fight some Fallen and some Cabal and some Vex and– [b]Zale[/b]: It was on the Moon. [b]Blades[/b]: Oh... Well either way, it's still really awesome! Especially what with that announcement the headmaster is making about you guys! [i]The three guardians looked at Blades in confusion.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]: Wait a minute, what announcement? [b]Liz[/b]: We didn't hear anything about an announcement... [i]Blades scratches his head.[/i] [b]Blades[/b]: Ohhh right... It was sort of supposed to be a surprise, but yeah. Come see for yourself! [i]Blades opened the door to the auditorium. In almost an instant, the roaring crowd inside blared into the hallway. Liz, Hayden, and Zale exchange glances with each other before slowly stepping inside. At the front of the auditorium was Karu, standing by a podium with a microphone in his hand. As soon as the three of them enter, his voice echoes around the room through the speakers.[/i] [b]Karu[/b]: Students, quiet down. [i]The room goes quiet.[/i] [b]Karu[/b]: It is on a very rare occasion that we hold an event like this. But in the end, that is what makes them so special... [i]Karu looks over at the three of them.[/i] [b]Karu[/b]: We stand here today to honor the brave and noble achievements, specifically made by three of our very own students at Tower High School... It is by such that I would like to commend them, here and now, on their excellent display of bravery in their mission. Through dangers of the darkness, peril, and even a betrayal of the light, Hayden 1, Elizabeth Roh, and Zale Aaron nobly carried their weight to the end. [i]The students and teachers let out a chorus of applause for Hayden, Liz, and Zale.[/i] [i]The crowd went quiet once again as Karu held up his hand, beckoning for silence.[/i] [b]Karu[/b]: Last but not least, many of you have undoubtedly heard about the next announcement... But before I speak of it, I'd to share a story with you all; one that stood the test of time as one of the many symbols that represent our school... A long time ago, there were three guardians; three unlikely persons who joined together to fight the darkness. [i]Zale nudged Hayden in the shoulder.[/i] [b]Zale[/b] [i](whispering)[/i]: Wait till he finds out what we did with the school shuttle. [b]Hayden[/b] [i](chuckling)[/i]: I know, right?... Wait, what [i]did[/i] we do with the shuttle? [i]Liz shushed the two of them.[/i] [b]Karu[/b]: Furthermore, the three were at odds with each other. [i]Zale and Hayden looked up at the school's headmaster.[/i] [b]Karu[/b]: They would butt heads and disagree left and right... But in the end, that made them stronger. Through heart and bravery beyond any measure, their bonds with each other won out; their light prevailed. [i]Liz whispered to Zale and Hayden.[/i] Liz: Like us.... [i]The two guardians smiled back at her.[/i] Karu: Their leader was a Hunter, named [i]Nare[/i]. He is no longer with us today... Yet even so, it is by such that I would like to announce the school's newest student fireteam: three guardians who will bear the same name as those in the legend. [i]The guardians looked up at their headmaster, eyes wide with shock at what he was saying.[/i] [b]Karu[/b]: Students. I would like to introduce Fireteam Brave Light. [i]Karu motioned towards the three of them. Silence spread throughout the room for a brief moment. Suddenly, a new wave of applause instantly roared throughout the auditorium, nearly ten times as loud as before.[/i] [i]Zale, Liz, and Hayden were speechless, looking around in surprise. Blades clapped Zale on the shoulder and winked.[/i] [i]Hayden yelled to Zale and Liz over the loud cheering all around them.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]: You know what this means, right? [i]Zale and Liz nodded.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]: The three of us. In a team. [i]They nodded again.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]: Together. [i]Zale threw his arms up in the air.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]: Oh, shut it already. It'll be fun! [b]Liz[/b]: It'll be... Interesting... [i]Hayden grinned back at their enthusiasm.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]: And besides! [i]Zale put a hand on each of their shoulders, a smug look on his face.[/i] [b]Zale[/b]: We've got a shadow to hunt. [i]Liz smiled at the Hunter.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]: Alright then... [i]The applause continued in the background.[/i] [b]Hayden[/b]: Brave Light it is. [b]------------------------------ Far out among the reaches of space [i]and[/i] time... ------------------------------[/b] [i]A group of figures stand in a dark room, watching a large screen on the wall in front of them. The room would be pitch black, but for the bright light of the screen illuminating their presence. At the front of the group is the Shadow, black wisps of smoke still emanating from his body. One of the members in the group steps forward to speak.[/i] [b]Kai[/b]: He failed his mission. [i]The Shadow continues to silently watch the screen. On the display were three guardians standing before Janus, looking up at the green aura around his body.[/i] [b]Kai[/b]: Janus.... He tried to use our power... [i]The Shadow corrected him.[/i] [b]???[/b]: He [i]failed[/i] to use our power... [i]The Warlock in the video leapt forward, meeting Janus's green Nova Bomb with the purple light of her own. The screen buzzed with interference.[/i] [b]???[/b]: But it doesn't matter. He was a pawn in our game. [i]Silence continued in the room. On the screen, one of the guardians stepped forward: A human Hunter with a wild, spiky head of black hair. Around his neck was a faded white cloak. The recording played his voice throughout the room.[/i] [b]Recording[/b]: No matter how weak we are, no matter how much we've lost, we're connected by our feelings. The good ones [i]and[/i] the bad ones. [i]The Shadow waved his hand, pausing the video as he stepped up to the monitor, his face now inches away from its bright light.[/i] [b]???[/b]: It's you.... [i]The Shadow slowly touched his hand to the Hunter's image on the glass surface as he whispered.[/i] [b]???[/b]: After all this time.... It's really you.... [i]The cluster of figures behind him quietly watched.[/i] [b]Kai[/b] [i](stepping closer)[/i]: What's next? [i]Darkness hissed around as the black cloud around the Shadow began to dissipate, until all that was left was a pale-skinned man with wild, jet-black hair.[/i] [i]The man cracked a smile as he turned away from the screen.[/i] [b]Nare[/b]: Send in the first wave. [b][i]----------------------------- [u]Brave Light will return in Season 2![/u] -----------------------------[/i][/b] Your initial thoughts are probably something like WTF, "Holy elephant nuts", or "Daaamn son". After the long break from Tower High, I'm hoping to start working on the series again. Now that we're through the first "season" of Brave Light (the only part I never actually planned out), things will go a lot more smoothly from here on out. The Season 2 finale of Tower High will begin on Sunday (tomorrow), and Season 2 of Brave Light will begin on Tuesday. [spoiler]That said, I appreciate all that you guys have done this far, whether it's feedback, a comment, or even a simple bump. I haven't been too active in terms of my writing and schedule, and that's something I'm really going to improve on in the coming weeks. Thanks again![/spoiler]
