Farewell and Adieu
Imperial Base, Helios
Ginger continued to push Freddy through the halls, slowed down by the human but resolved not to abandon him. Still, he could sense danger on all sides, and that was a feeling that he could not abide. In an instant, Federation Stormtroopers sprung out from behind cover up ahead, and began to fire at the two. Hallwinter wrapped himself around Freddy to protect him from the fire, and got behind cover himself. Neither of them were armed, but Hallwinter knew that he'd be able to inflict damage at close range nonetheless.
He rushed forwards and slammed his shoulder into the first Fed soldier, crushing his ribcage easily, and then grabbed him and threw him at two other soldiers before he hit the ground. One opened fire at him, but he dodges most of the shots, and slams him with a backwards strike with his forearm, rendering him unconscious. Only one soldier was left after this...
Hallwinter had lived a long life, and he had seen both wonders and horrors. He had lived a life in service to most everything, in his time, whether it was a ruler, or a concept, an ideal greater than itself. Not all of it had been admirable, or even benign, but he had always worked for the greater good. He had the gift (or perhaps it was a curse?) of watching his friends fight alongside him, die, and then return to life once more, as all warriors deserved to. But there would never be a return for him; never would the Galaxy see his face again.
This is what went through his mind as his vision turned to black, and Phaedrus' sword melted his organs, his muscles and bones, and boiled his golden blood.
