Medal Score = PvP experience Grimoire Score = PvE/PvP experience I have little skill in any region of the game, yet I have relatively high Medal and Grimoire scores. It's just a measure what what you have done whilst playing the game. Not a show of skill, in my opinion.

  • Finally, someone who knows what they're talking about. Experience is definitely the right word to use when talking about grimoire, not skill.

  • I know, I may have a moderately high Grimoire score, but I'm crap at a lot of the game. Haven't completed HM King's Fall, only gone flawless twice, very frequently go negative in PvP. I may have experience, but not so much skill.

  • Haven't completed HM King's Fall yet? Would you like to? My group and I can help with that if you're on PS4.

  • Yeah true, most of us have jobs, and I'm currently in college myself. Luckily it only takes an hour to complete.

  • Most of it comes from completing stuff tho. None of it comes from just being there

My opinion has not changed in the 20 minutes since writing it. You can be carried through team based game modes, which are all of them barring Rumble, so you don't have to be skilled to grab those points. The Rumble Grimoire is the only one requiring any sort of "skill" to get. Need raid Grimoire, you can be carried! Need trials Grimoire, you can be carried! You can say you have a lot of experience in the game when you have a high Grimoire, but you might be an awful player when it comes to skill level.

  • The stuff you are listing tho is a small amount of the Grimoire. Most of it comes from you actually playing the game, getting kills with certain weapons, certain classes. That's where majority of it comes from. Unless you pay someone to play on your account then no. And what person have you met that has been carried through the whole game? No one plays a game to get carried through it. They play a game to play it =/

  • My point still stands. You can be very skilled at all aspects of the game and have a low Grimoire. You can have very little skill in any aspect of the game and still achieve a high Grimoire score. To me, having max Grimoire just means you have a lot of spare time on your hands to get the points. You don't require "skill" to get the vast majority of the Grimoire in the game.

  • Maybe you should've read the thread
You can be very skilled at all aspects of the game and have a low Grimoire.
I bolded out this point at the beginning to avoid confusion I am not saying all low Grimoire score players are bad, I am not saying all high Grimoire score players are good. But majority of the high Grimoire score players are good, and majority of the low Grimoire score players are not good. Think about it, there are a lot of people with low Grimoire scores, some this might be there first FPS, some might be extreme casuals, some just don't care. But people with high Grimoire score play the game a lot, they care about the game and spend a lot of time on it. Getting Grimoire is just playing the game. The more you play the better chances of it you would be at.

  • I think we all agree that we've seen good players that have low/high grimoire but we've also seen not so good players with low/high grimoire. So wouldn't that tell you that grimoire just isn't a good indicator of skill at all?

  • I don't think you read the thread either
Let me give you an example. I have been doing this for the past weeks and it has worked out for me. When I am looking for a raid group I would go to LFG and post something similar to this.- "Need people for a fast raid run. Only requirement I have is must have a 4600+ Grimoire score"
I posted that same thing on LFG and the forums every time I was looking for a group. I've been doing this for I want to say a month and a half now. Just to experiment. And the results turned out great. All of the people I played with were good. Not one of them sucked, and I even learned some new things from a couple of them. I can't speak for everyone in the Destiny community but I think i got a pretty good picture from my experiment.

  • Yeah no I read it. If that's how you LFG, I don't have a problem with that. I'm glad that it's working for you in fact. All I'm saying is, grimoire is an unreliable way to judge who's good and who isn't. If anything, it just tells you who's had more experience. More often than not, experience means better players but not always. Experience does not equal skill. I think you can tell by the numerous posts on these forums how people decide who is highly skilled or not. Not just these forums but every competitive game forums as well.

  •
All I'm saying is, grimoire is an unreliable way to judge who's good and who isn't.
So I am supposed to sit down with everyone see how they play to determine if they are good or not? That seems extremely unreliable and a waste of time. Why would I do that? I have things to do during the day... Experience tends to lead to skill. Like a said in my original post there are some prodigies in the world. But most of the people in the world get good with experience most don't pick up something and know how to do it.

  • I agree with everything you just said. At the end of my last reply I made a suggestion to use something more reliable to determine one's skill. That's all.
