The Holodeck
Ghost lead stood inside the kill house examining his team's work. The two story house was now the scene of battle. The front door was blown off its hinges, a breaching charge. The two guards inside were killed immediately. The team swept inside and killed two more standing guard over the bomb. Three more tried to counter attack but were eliminated before they could fire. The bomb was diffused easily and the threat ended. The simulation paused and the team gathered to review. The few people watching from the observation deck came down as well.

-
Cephalon walks up behind them. "They're good."
-
They turn to look. "We aim to impress."
-
"Those were all human targets I assume?"
-
"Holodeck is preprogrammed for human targets. Not that it matters, our weapons will take down anything robots and aliens included."
-
"Alright. Let's give them a challenge shall we?" He says, and walks over to the control console, pressing keys rapidly. The place turns to sand, and a small sandstorm occurs. They hear Cephalons voice. "Congrats, you can kill people. Unfortunately, you'll be fighting stuff more like Alegrian sand worms. They have only 2 weak spots. Find them, and you can kill it. Don't, and you lose."
-
"You mean we're fighting a giant worm, with no heavy weaponry? Sounds like fun." He turned to his men. "Alright spread out fifteen meters, visual contact watch out for tremors. Arm sim grenades, if the bastard swallows you set them off."
-
It bursts out of the sand in the middle of the field. Heavy scales cover its entire body, forming an armour plating. It has a huge mouth with several rows of teeth the size of machete blades, the creature being easily 6 stories tall.
-
"Oh, well now this is going to be interesting." The team sent up a drone that scanned the worm for weaknesses, unarmored points, eyes, exposed organs.
-
The drone barely lasts 30 seconds. The beast chews it, tearing it apart and charges at one of them, sand flinging up out of its path
-
The drone detonated with a sonic and plasma inside the worm's mouth. The data had already been relayed as well, thermal, infrared and X-ray scans delivered themselves to the team.
-
The drone only managed to find one weak point: the flesh under the scales is very soft. You need to find a way to get rid of the scales
-
The heavy weapons operator knelt down and pulled out the team's antitank weapon. The rocket fired off and slammed into the worm, the thermal front charge pierced the scales, then the HE secondary charge went off inside it, blasting a large hole in the creature flesh.
-
It falls, and seems to be dead. The hole on its side is visible. "Good job. You killed it." Cephalon says, watching from the observation deck. The sim doesn't end though.
-
"Keep a look out, more hostiles are in the area. Heads on the swivel."
-
Nothing else is seen, and what the men don't know is that nothing else is truly there.
-
The stillness remained for sometime, not one man moved, eventually pavel activated the extraction routine and a fed vtol arrived to pick them up.
-
The worm started to move again. The hole in its side, now almost completely sealed, isn't a bother to it anymore. It charges them again.
-
Onboard the VTOL the pilot opens up with the 30 mike mike cannon and antitank rockets, nimbly evading the worm.
-
The worm is swan in two, and let's out a large guttural scream before dying, and the sim ends. "Good, good."
-
Jaeger was watching a playback of the simulation, watching intently I'm telling you, Major, we could have shaved off 2 seconds if we used the EMP Pulse to disable their locks and gear.
-
"True, but that emp takes time to set up and charge, time I decided we didn't have."
-
I get what your saying but..... He pauses the simulation review See here? There was a dead man switch on the 4th guard. If we weren't using plasma weapons, but ballistic ones, the Pulse from th ebomb would've detonated.
-
"But we were, which is why someone always has one."
-
*Silver walks down from the observation deck, slowly clapping "Impressive. You do seem to be able to work together. Good. You'll need that teamwork in a real battle."-Silver
-
Pavel, aka ghost lead, turn towards him. "It's the kind of discipline and efficiency I expect from delta company. I advise you to take note."
