There is nothing inherently wrong with infusion. It's fine the way it is. What mucks it up is the lack of quality drops post LL 300. If they went back to Y1 style drops - max light but need to be leveled, rather than rng 310-320 - then infusing gear would be much less painful and after six months we'd be grinding for horizontal gains, rather than vertical.

Maybe just increase the legendary marks you have to spend when it infuses higher. An example would be free up to 3 light levels higher, but 1 mark per light level higher after that. ..or just one mark per light level to make it even more simple.

I like the infusing system. But it needs to not only be applied to year 1 gear, but gear needs to always decrypt at slightly above your level. They also need to bring back item retooling and also apply it to armors.
