The stuff that makes Destiny cool and fun is the non human factors. The division is just cod but with shooter looter mechanics. Hooter looters needs something to complement it to be interesting. Borderlands had the art direction and comedic tone and all that. Destiny has the whole sci fi stuff. Division has..... nothing.

I like borderlands but I do wish they didn't take that art direction, not saying every game needs to go for great graphics but idk it almost seemed like they were lazy when making them

As you said my opinion, only played borderlands 2 but still, personally felt their art was meh. Totally loved how it was different from every other game and the comedic dialogue was great but yeah. Can't help but feel they weren't going for anything iconic, happy accident but there's surely posts and statements from the creators that would prove me wrong
