That might be true if it were consistent. But it's not. Several of the strikes are pre-ttk, including Omnigul now that it's back in the rotation. That predates the death of Crota, which is a part of the taken king storyline. Plus, some of the old strikes were updated to include taken enemies, which completely breaks the lore. We've already killed Valus, yet now we run that strike with taken involved. Endgame activities are not meant to be limited by lore. Doing so limits replayability tremendously. The idea of endgame activities is to have something to do once you have reached the "end of the game", and have completed everything related to the story.
I'm sorry you misunderstood me, but I never said anything against the lore in my comment. I simply stated that nightfalls aren't there for lore purposes. I stand by that. If strikes are rotating randomly and being modified to include enemies that didn't exist in them when they were current anyway, then there is no reason to leave them out.
