What I find curious is how you so easily equate entertaining the notion of "How cool would it be to have animals with human like intelligence?" to "Not trying to be human." Most of us often ponder what a world would look like, would be like if there were anthropomorphic animals wandering this planet. And, while there is no way within our reality to be able to experience such a co-existence we, the fandom, use our creativity and imagination to attempt to bring that experience to life.
