During shield brothers, cayde says the cabal got orders from way out of the solar system, and theres also the dead orbit/vanguard quest to stop the cabal signal from broadcasting to the empire out of the solar system, I feel like their forces in the sol system are nothing compared to their full force at wherever their home world/home flotilla is

I'm aware of that, however the depths of mars are yet to be thoroughly explored, it's possible there are unknown threats at work

The only things I could see burrowing to the core without being destroyed are the vex, being organic beings, the pressure would kill the cabal, and the vex didnt build mercury to house anything, they simply made it a giant machine, and if there was any significant cabal force left in the sol system, they died when the oryx started taking them and when phobos was lost
