I watched it today with my son who hasn't seen any of them, and that was the only reason it was so fresh. I always thought the planet was Hoth, but then heard the lines from Vader... "Hoth system" "sixth planet"... Why would the sixth planet have the same name as the star it orbits? It seems to have been a simplification on the back end, because if it is unnamed, people would have to say "sixth planet in the Hoth system" every time they talked about it, and as the star it orbits is really of little consequence to the story, the planet is called Hoth and through general use it is accepted over time.

Edited by BewbsR4Food: 3/17/2016 4:02:27 AMthere are many cases where the major planet of a system shares the same name as that system. Tatooine is a part of the tatooine system or Coruscant for example

Well I guess that's just lazy writing then. My apologies if I came across as a douche, which I kind of feel like I may have now. I just happened to think I had a realization that I discovered something about Star Wars today after realizing that Hoth was the name of the star, like our Solar system (Sol/Sun)...

Its all good. It was suppose to be a light-hearted post. Nothing to spark serious debate. But i should expect such when making a star wars reference. Star wars was written lazy. There are tons of holes.

Fictional universes seem to incite arguments a lot on the internet. Thanks for being cool about it man, my bad.
