Here's my ways The Division can learn from Destiny. Change 1: Match making - I don't want to walk up to a mission start and be able to start hosting an instance or joining another with match making. Make me go to a website and post on forums to find partners is I want to experience the game with others. Change 2: Too much content - Ubisoft, you done goofed, I'm 40 hours in and still have a good chunk of content including side missions and main story missions. It should only take me 8 hours to finish the story and hit the level cap Remove 75% of the content and sell it as DLC. Change 3: Speaking of caps - where's my currency cap? I've earned 75,000 of the in game currency and some people have hundreds of thousands. Uh ... did you forget to add a cap or something? Change 4: Locations - The playable area is too big, make it a lot smaller and add a bunch of baby bumpers that keep you confined to narrower environs. Change 5: emotes - I need them, I want to pay money to have my character slow clap. Luke Smith is so disappointed in you. Change 6: light level I'm uncomfortable about being able to reach the maximum level through playing the game and earning experience. I feel like my level should be tied to randomly receiving the appropriate gear. Change 8: Other - Weapon shaders: yuck. Gear trading: gross. A shooting range? Can you say gimmick! RPG elements: too complicated, need to be dumbed down. In-game lore: nope, just nope.

  • I don't criticise anybody but I like to remember people who try to bash other games just how bad the games they play our. It's like people who live in glass houses should never throw stones. Ya hear me? I've already stated division is not perfect and neither is destiny but the attack of the fanboy lives on!

I don't know if your version of The Division also has buildings, but those buildings are doing a pretty good job of narrowing my environments.

  • There no such thing as to much content

Yeah there is, if it's not presented well. Trying to push a heavy load of content at people all at once can be overwhelming to some and makes them shy away without even getting started, even if it's just by hearing rumors of how much heavy content there is.

  • So limited content is better than having a lot. This community complains about lack of content and not enough content.

We're talking about the concept of whether "too much content" is a real thing or not, and it is. Yeah you should put a limit on things, but I didn't say put a low limit or that the limit should be the same across the board. Some things need higher or lower limits than others and sometimes it has nothing to do with quantity. Quality and presentation of content are more important. Putting grimoire inside the game in some direct way could have been all that we needed. But there's still the question of how much and how it's presented that matters. For example, The Division basically has the same thing as grimoire and about the same amount, but instead of putting it on a website, they add them as spots around the area that you interact with to give you the info.

  • There not enough for me to do in destiny. Skyrim had amazing content that kept me happy for days, fall out had content that kept me happy for days. Hell the main story is longer than destiny's story and it's designed greatly. I'm making a game that a going to have a lot of content for the player, a good story mission and a great deal of side missions. In case they want to break from the main story. Quest lines that are nicely made.

That's fine. Not all games have to have MASSIVE amounts of unique things to do and really, you're comparing a game that's much older and based off a years old franchise before it that they could draw ideas and even reuse content from, while Destiny was a completely new thing for Bungie that they had never done, both as an IP and as a type of game. If you want to compare, then compare the first Elder Scrolls and Fallout 1 to Destiny, not their 4th or 5th iteration in a decade or more of IP building.

  • Bungie could of went to blizzard for guidance and support. They could of delayed the game and made a better story. Adding more content that could keep people happy until the next dlc. The dark below could of been massive, and added a lot more if it was delayed. But the bottom line it that they didn't they could of. Fall out 4 just came out last year and already is getting dlc that far surpasses the dark below or house.of wolves. Taken king was a step in the right direction but they could of done that from the beginning. My point is fall out 4 has enough content to last a year. Destiny had content that could last a good two weeks, then you grind and grind. I don't want to make a game that doesn't have enough but also has a good story. I'm not making loads of random content for fun, we plan to make every quest, every story mission meaning full. Let's face it, destiny isn't meant to tell a great story and isn't meant for people who like a lot of content. The reason I'm here, is because I have been here for five years and enjoy destiny's grimore. Today was the first time time touched destiny.

  • change 1: destiny has matchmaking for low-end activities only requires LFG for end game high end activities... something the division doesnt even have. FAIL change 2: destiny has more story missions then the division, plus a raids, plus PoE, plus crucible. sidemissions/ encounters are all recycled missions that are the equivilent of patrol missions which destiny has just as much as... except they have public events that force player interaction... something that division only has in the DZ and is gated off by peoples levels. FAIL change 3: minor problem, you can bank tons of currancy with consumables and the things you buy with glimmer doesnt cost as much so the cap is not a problem, and pheonix credits does have a cap which is the only currency that actually matters in the Div. FAIL change 4: adding all the planets and deadnaugh together is probably not that much smaller then the division, except they are all varried and dont all look the same, like the division does... they also have very unique areas in raids and tons of maps for PvP which division doesnt have. FAIL change 5: division has emotes..... FAIL change 6: division has gear level. you need to be 150 gear level to enter the incursion (which looks like a strike in destiny, not the same quality as a raid). so this is just completely false. FAIL change 8 (?.. shouldnt it be 7 or can you not count?) division has weapon shaders, you cant trade in the division they just said they will add it in the future, i dont get the need for a shooting range... the whole game is a shooting range, Destiny has RPG elements, destiny's lore is more vast and interesting the the division the only difference is the grimmoire is not in the game its online... which is litterally the only argument you can even make with all of this. FAIL nice try, but ya blew it.

  • if you had played the division you would know that missions, especially challenging, tend to be much more like strikes than destiny story missions. And piss off commenting on incursions when there is literally 0 information about them other than that they exist and come out in april.

  • Point 1: the division doesn't need 3rd party lfg for endgame activities because it's too damn busy having REAL matchmaking in game. Stopped reading after that. Nice try troll

  • in destiny if you want to do pvp, strike playlists or weekly heroic strikes it has matchmaking, raids and trials of osiris dose not have matchmaking. division doesn't have anything that is an equivalent to any of those things....

  • challenging difficulty missions are easily as difficult as year 1 nightfalls, and have matchmaking. Incursions are likely to be divisions version of raids, and we don't know yet if it will have MM or not but so far as I know ubisofts stance is that everything has MM. Bringing up trials as dumb as heck, considering that the division isn't about arena PvP, and by the by the endgame PvP it does have, DOES have matchmaking.

  • It's getting exhausting the amount of times I have to say that I never once said division doesn't have match making. I personally prefer LFG because I have made a ton of friends off of it, when I match make in other games, including division, it's just a bunch of silent people who are in a party chat with someone else. It is relevant to bring up crucible and trials because those are more experiences that destiny has that division doesn't and the argument I hear is division has so much more to do but it doesn't. Once you hit 30 it's over as the gear is not worth grinding for IMO since it all looks and feels the same.

  • it's experiences that the division doesn't have because IT"S A DIFFERENT GAME. It has some comparable aspects yes. Arena based PvP is not one of them, so stop comparing apples and oranges. Good for you, you like arena PvP. Not having it doesn't make a game bad.

  • They are both in the same genre "shared world shooter" it's not apples and oranges. Comparing halo to WoW is apples to oranges. If I say halo has warzone which is a fun large scale PvPvE experience but gears of war doesn't have it, they are both shooters they have are comparable it's an advantage for halo. I never said it makes division a bad game I said its features destiny has that division doesn't, so saying division has soooo much to do is false. There is no end game, destiny had an objectively far superior end game even in vanilla.

Except.. I've never once seen Division officially called a shared world shooter. Which in any case is just a bullshit genre bungie made up to hide the fact that their game couldn't cut it in several other genres, mostly due to lack of content. And oh look now you're comparing the end-game when the division end-game hasn't even released yet. OH WAIT THAT'S THE SAME AS DESTINY ON LAUNCH.

  • Crucible was at launch, VoG came after one week... It's been two weeks and we don't even have a DATE for when incursions are coming. Which I'm pretty confident is gonna be a slightly longer story mission

crucible isn't endgame so far as I remember trials and iron banner weren't in on launch. BTW the existing story missions are already longer than crota's end ^_^ as for incursions stop making wild baseless claims when there is no info about them yet. Ubisoft wouldn't be going for the crazy surprise reveal if they were just going to be longer story missions, because that would be retarded and kill their fanbase. You don't surprise reveal total Crap. Maybe if they were trying to sell season passes, except incursions are free.
