Here's my ways The Division can learn from Destiny. Change 1: Match making - I don't want to walk up to a mission start and be able to start hosting an instance or joining another with match making. Make me go to a website and post on forums to find partners is I want to experience the game with others. Change 2: Too much content - Ubisoft, you done goofed, I'm 40 hours in and still have a good chunk of content including side missions and main story missions. It should only take me 8 hours to finish the story and hit the level cap Remove 75% of the content and sell it as DLC. Change 3: Speaking of caps - where's my currency cap? I've earned 75,000 of the in game currency and some people have hundreds of thousands. Uh ... did you forget to add a cap or something? Change 4: Locations - The playable area is too big, make it a lot smaller and add a bunch of baby bumpers that keep you confined to narrower environs. Change 5: emotes - I need them, I want to pay money to have my character slow clap. Luke Smith is so disappointed in you. Change 6: light level I'm uncomfortable about being able to reach the maximum level through playing the game and earning experience. I feel like my level should be tied to randomly receiving the appropriate gear. Change 8: Other - Weapon shaders: yuck. Gear trading: gross. A shooting range? Can you say gimmick! RPG elements: too complicated, need to be dumbed down. In-game lore: nope, just nope.

 • I do agree with basically everything you have said. I think they have a similar number of cutscenes though but thats not really important. I think that it really helps the division to have the extra lore pieces IN THE GAME (cell phones, echos etc). I think the grimmoire stories are more interesting but not having them in the game means not many people read them. I do remember that instance with the prisoners and that echo, it was really cool however I also remember getting to the final mission and having them be like
oh no general bliss and im like who the hell is that? and they say oh it was (forgot name) who shot down the helicopter and im like who? and then they kind of explained how he was a wave 1 agent etc
... I at least knew why I was fighting that ink blob haha. I can agree to disagree that the main narrative was told better in the division than in vanilla destiny. I feel like they are both so close (although neither is really good) that you could argue one way or another... however I believe the overall lore in destiny (although hard to actually find) is VERY interesting and if it was in the form of audio logs etc in vanilla destiny we wouldn't even be having this conversation... if more people knew what happened in the vault of glass and what it actually is/ what was actually happening, lore wise, in that fight it would blow their minds.

 • uhhh wat you clearly weren't paying attention, I actually played that mission before the previous missions because friends, and still understood it.
colonel bliss is the leader of the last man battalion, their motto being that they fight to the last man. LMB has essentially imposed a strict and harsh martial law on the territory it controls, but they are simply a private military corporation and have no official authority unlike the JTF. It tells you in the mission that he escaped by chopper, but when he learns you killed all his lieutenants he comes back to -blam!- shit up. The first wave division agent had nothing to do with killing him, we take down bliss's chopper in the aforementioned final fight. The first wave agent was simply working with them towards a common goal is all. His name was Aaron keener if you missed it.LMB+keener had a russian virologist captive, keener realises the LMB is -blam!-ed and is all like "-blam!- this shit I'm out" and takes the virologist, hence all the comments that he backstabbed them. The final echo you get access to as part of a side mission after that final story mission, also shows us the fate of the guy who made and released the virus, amherst, and indicates that keener now has all he needs to be able to make more of it, or even change it, and we don't yet fully know what he intends to do with it.
I don't know if it was Vex or if it's the Darkness. And like I said, I still don't know what the Darkness is, and it's the main antagonist in the game apparently. And I don't mean it in a good, mysterious way like I'm being led on some juicy mystery. Basically, like I said, The Division's story (so far, I'm about 60% through) feels more complete and tightly woven and deliberate. Destiny's story starts off so well but then fizzles. It honestly feels like a different team wrote the second half. At the beginning I was like "what is this cool traveller thing?! oh my god yes, I'm a space explorer! Look at the tower! This is such a cool setting. Who is that mysterious figure that keeps watching me from afar? Wow, the queen and her brother are up to something, I wonder what?" And then all of those things just seem to not matter and all of those threads are just dropped and forgotten. It was such a strong start, like an amazing start to the game. I have a feeling that for Destiny 2, Bungie will be able to tell a really compelling and complete story.

 • That's cool, everyone has there own idea of what works for them. The story of Destiny was easy to follow because it was strictly linear. Rpg's have always been more of a grind and if you were mixing in encounters while you were going through the story, i could see how it would seem tedious for someone not expecting that. Although i will say if you did the side missions, picked up the cell phone and listened to the conversations. Picked up every echo and listened to how they unfolded and then did the main missions of those sections you become much more involved and informed of overall story. Again, if that's not your thing, cool but, the story is there, very in depth and in game.

 • yeah I did mention that the one saving grace of the comment I originally replied to was that it is a boon to have all of the lore pieces or divisions version of grimmoire included in game and voice acted/ movie-d. however you seem to be level headed so im sure you could agree that the majority of shadows points were bogus. I will however concede that the comments I made about divisions story was of my own opinion and I do not expect everyone to share, however the rest of my comments are basically facts haha the dude was being crazy

 • well you were suggesting I was comparing a game with almost two years worth of content to a game that came out last week when I was comparing destiny after 1 week to division after 1 week.

 • Lol!!!! Two years of content. . . . You're a complete fool if you believe all of destiny's content would last 2 years. Most of which was time gated to last that long.
please don't reproduce
Notice you didn't mention pvp, heh yeh I wouldn't either. 1. good point. 2. Ok but now you've finished the campaign which is long, will you actually be returning to a grim, boring and bumbling (watchdogs much?) version of GTA but without the vehicles and carnage? 3. Yeh ok, not a deal breaker but mildly frustrating 4. It's one shitty boring grim af map. Albeit big. A shitty watchdogs version of a GTA-esque Manhatten. 5. Do you think IF this sad state of a game can stay alive with a substantial player base for 18 months (really?) That they won't introduce emotes? Ok brah. 6. I like that - story isn't the end, 40 isn't the end, don't like grinding don't grind. You can have a great time in destiny at 280-310, you Wana grind HM cos you that sorter player? Cool. Well do that 7. You can't count 8. Weapon skins ARE yuck. If I saw a pink cocytus or a green juju or gold Zhao, it would feel like call of duty, there's enough kids on lfg... which by the way would be worse with matchmaking ... Gear trading, grimoire and/or lore in game via cutscenes or character interaction (the tower!!!) - yip, yup you raise valid points

 • Too bad Division PvP isn't much better. Lag still plays a factor and hit detection is terrible. Dropped a sticky bomb literally on a weak player and it did nothing.

 • There's more that goes into division pvp than just hit detection. That guy you hit might have had a ton of hps, high armor value, even different resistances.

 • Okay, I also dropped a sticky bomb on a an entire group. Unless they all had exactly the same build and were 100% immune to explosive damage, there's no way none of them should not have taken damage. I also do know that it hit because they started bleeding. Stat builds do not make that much of a difference in Division.

 •
Stat builds do not make that much of a difference in Division.
This is one of the most ignorant sentences i have seen on the Destiny forums in over a year, and if you've been here for long, you know there's lots of ignorant posts to go around.

 • Stat builds do not fully negate damage. They lessen it, but it's never negated.

 • No stat builds don't negate damage, armor in your gear negates damage. But that's not what was said. What was said was, stat builds don't make much of a difference, which is the farthest thing from the truth.
