As long as its a single blast, it would. It blocks one shot of any extremely high damage.

That's gameplay, they are not invincible in lore.

In this case armor lock has never been referenced in lore except in the Halo visually guides. If it truly was invincible it would beg the question of why they never installed it on their ships? Or used it in the books.
