I'm at the point where I can deal a million crit with buffs ( pulse smart cover and DPS signature ) yet it still takes around 5 shots to take down a generic mob.

I'm doin 390k crits and killing lvl 30 elites with 1 shot. You must be doing something wrong.

Edited by OJ191: 3/20/2016 11:42:36 AMno, no you aren't. The weaker HP enemies (just rushers and snipers I think?) I 2-3 shot kill (I can't remember if it's 2 or 3 and I only just played earlier today... SMH) with my pulse+smart cover ~450k headshot crits. Stronger HP enemies are 3-5 depending on which specific enemy. Actually may be less than 5, I havn't really payed attention and some (many even?) of the shots may have been non-crit despite pulse. Obviously heavies and bosses take more, being what they are. If you were really doing 1mil crits then on challenging you would probably be one shot killing the rushers, or close to, and 2-3 MAX for the regular enemies, and some more for the super-tanks like heavies and bosses. And that's on challenging (and DZ06). Everything else that is actually at my level (and to a lesser extent the 31s in DZ05) gets absolutely destroyed and isn't spongey at all. This is with gear that isn't minmaxed, an SMG that isn't at all min-maxed yet still one-mag-kills shotgun rushers with buffs and good aim, and the above-mentioned sniper which is a mediocre roll ilvl30 purple. If you really want I can record some gameplay next time I play challenging later this week (doubt I will have time the next few days, long work days and language night classes and stuff). But they really are not that spongey at all on a DPS build at-level with proper gear and decent rolls. Easily on par with destiny's sponginess IMO.
