Okay, so ive seen alot of posts about Sunsingers and how "op" they are and its getting annoying.
Lets compare the infamous firebolt with the hunters "Wombo combo".
Firebolt
------------------------
- Does a TOTAL of *** damage, not enough to kill even the lowest of armored guardians.(SEE EDIT)
-Has DoT for around 12 seconds (some say 14, some say 10)
-Firebolt has an 8m radius in which it tags.
EDIT
I just tested it and got the clip. When its active in around 10 mins ill post the link.
Initial tag for 85 damage.
11 ticks of 7 for DoT.
85+77 is 162.
My bad, i was off by 5.
This was tested on the lowest armor build a voidwalker can run.
Good for crowd control and good defensive technique. Does allow "tracking" by watching the DoT BUUUUUT warlocks are the slowest and clunkiest race so it is harder to chase the enemy. <---- thats called trade off. Warlocks can be situationally amazing and of course they will be harder to kill.. its a defensive subclass and is built that way.
Wombo Combo
------------------------------
-Takes away radar
-cuts movement speed by 50%
-does damage
-blinds the enemy visually
-locks abilities, supers, charged melees and jumps
^-----thats just the "Smoke" portion of the grenade.
Their void grenade choices all do damage and can visually impair other guardians trying to see or shoot through it.
BUT wombo requires both grenades to be thrown to be 100% effective. Dont forget how they can be thrown virtually simultaneously.
Its trade off. If the hunters had all of that in just ONE grenade then theyd actually be op.. but they aren't.
TL;DR
Neither are op and excel in certain situations better then other subclasses. But if you proceed to call one of them op in anyway then you HAVE to consider the other one as such.
Edit: So it seems alot of people are misunderstanding my point.
Im NOT saying firebolt and wombo is the same style or do the same things. What i AM saying is that most who consider firebolt "op" due to just its DoT must thrn consider wombo as "op" because wombo has 4 times the effects on an enemy and while it does take 2 charges, its also on a character that is faster then warlocks, has access to an evade and keen scout.
You cant consider something op due to one fact while ignoring classes that have alot of advantages similar in concept.
Edit: Alot of people keep saying that firebolts leave you at one shot. My response:how many other grenades do that? It doesnt matter HOW they do it, just THAT theydo it.
EDIT: SUNSINGER OP? CHECK THIS SHIT OUT.
https://youtu.be/VM-SwPcMIwE
Its just as strong imo.
-
coughs The entire Nightstalker class is countered by walking lol
-
Nice, I think you forgot the whole reason wombo combo is so good. Everybody cries about how it's so good, but it has to be. Your using a grenade and melee for -blam!-s sake, not mention you just have to -blam!-ing walk away from it.
-
Oh no, we wouldn't want the Hunters to nerf themselves, now would we?
-
Haha Sunsinger is definitely op. Flame shield and firebolt are both obnoxious. Nightstalker is strong but Sunsinger is by far the strongest class atm
-
"You cant consider something op due to one fact while ignoring classes that have alot of advantages similar in concept." Please mr hypocrit, then compare all the aspects of the compared items. Besides, comparing melee + granade vs grande is plain stupid, not to mention that they have nothing in common.
-
Wombo Combo?! Who the hell comes up with this ridiculous verbage?! In a couple of years this dialogue will morph into nothing but buzzes and clicks resurrected from some ancient jungle tribe with skinny jeans on. This is truly one of the most entertaining places to visit... yep, right here. Lol
-
>Titans are just shy of useless again and must watch as Warlocks and Hunters go at each other's throats for the title of "least OP PVP class". Almost feels like year one Destiny again.

Edited by Corrosive Fear: 3/24/2016 5:26:58 PMIf they just removed the Firebolt IN general I'm fine with the burning time maybe replace it with an incendiary grenade it would be fair and make it to were some aiming is involved when using grenades as a Sunsinger. Now on the other hand the Smoke & Nade combo is annoying but if you were just allowed to jump and/ or evade (Blink, Shadestep, Twilight Dodge or just jump then the smoke nade combo wouldn't be so deadly but these are just my ideas....
-
That ain't falco
-
Buddy, Wombo Combo takes a grenade AND a melee charge. Not to mention that the grenade has to be placed properly in order to take it's place as a Wombo Combo. Warlocks just throw Firebolts when they freak and out start smashing melees everywhere because, Warlocks.
-
I think the author is upset about his precious warlocks getting fired up, but the fact is that melee range is op as heck so I mean hunters should get the wombo combo if they get boosted melee range and a shield, if anything the defender Titan is weak as heck in pvp, that should be a good class for choke points, and it is...if you know how to use it
-
I will say, you shouldn't be able to be one hit scorch meleed in your super, or in any case actually
-
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
-
Being left at one shot, being tracked through walls, taking longer for your shields to go up, leaves room for a sloppy throw because the single bolt reaches further then most grenades blast radiuses and at the outer area of the blast radius most grenades do less damage. The firebolt is the most consistent grenade type because it will hit if you're in the radius of it with the same amount of damage every time.
-
I don't think either are OP. but I don't agree that the fire bolt combo and wombo combo are comparable. Just on the fact that a hunter has to use both abilities to net for certain a single kill. Where as fire bolts can be spammed and kill multiple people a lot easier. And it's only your nade. Your charged melee has the ability to with dot kill the lowest armored people as well. So I would say sunsinger is stronger then night stalker in the lethality department. But nightstalker is superior in the support area.
-
Don't make another hunter subclass shit like arcblade.

Edited by MainManiac: 3/24/2016 12:59:34 AMIf you want to compare the two, you can't compare a hunters melee/grenade to just a warlocks grenade. You have to throw scorch in there too which also hits for around 170ish. The same melee that can leave low armored hunter with less than 10hp, not to mention you just need to have someone in your field of view and it auto aims the melee directly to the target. Warlocks now have two attack methods that can lower a guardians health to below 30 vs. one that can kill if thrown perfectly. That being said I've used both as a main in the past few months and will admit Nighstalker can be OP. In my opinion, the difference between the two is that it takes high skill to take the nightstalker class to the 'OP' level. (Although high skilled players can make almost any subclass 'OP') Where as you can give an average player the ability to spam firebolts, melee with a very large margin of error and occasionally two lives with double health and it can take them to to the same heights.
-
I love when people leave other critical facts out of place when they compare two things. Like Warlocks having a melee that has more distance then many shotguns , see Hunters have to giveup their melee for your super wombo combo Warlocks constantly having an additional shield with their melee , Hunters have none Warlocks having additional damage resistance with their super , Hunters have none Warlocks can only spam grenades with their supers to kill where Hunters require precision hits Now get the f..k out you biased dude...

Edited by Jiggyfly1701: 3/24/2016 10:57:18 AMNothing wrong with sunsingers until you play 3 of them in trials, the thing is you can move away from smoke and it's a stationary grenade, if you don't step in it your fine. Firebolts tag you and burn you, they leave you out of the fight for about 10 seconds, don't even lie and say your gonna challenge somebody who has the mida with your mida when you are being burned by a firebolt. You are out of the fight for upwards of 15 seconds, leaving your team in a 3v2. There is a reason the majority of streamers who carry use sunsingers, they are easy mode. Flame shield and firebolts is all you need.
-
I don't get why people are so fed up. It's a grenade why wouldn't it kill you? Why can't grenades kill people? Because the community is full of retards that's why.
-
You just compared Hunter Melee and grenade damage vs warlock grenade ... You missed the warlock Melee
-
Smoke in general is stupid. Idk why the fùck my radar disappears when I'm wearing a space helmet... If radar stayed, it'll be more reasonable... Don't get started on how many glitches the night stalker has / has had....
-
Warlocks have the Susanoo. Ergo, Warlocks are linked to fusion rifles. Therefore, Warlocks must be nerfed.
-
Wombo Combo = 2 charges. Firebolt = 1 charge. Wombo Combo = takes precise aim w/ nade + smoke to get off kill. Usually, you only wombo combo one person. Firebolt = throw the damn nade about 10 feet away from your targets, hit their whole fireteam, and either kill them or take them out of the game for ~12 sec.
-
Why not include the fact that the Sunsinger's neutral game is it's super?
-
Also, what about your insta melee shield, I don't think you factored in both classes equally in your argument
