Okay, so ive seen alot of posts about Sunsingers and how "op" they are and its getting annoying.
Lets compare the infamous firebolt with the hunters "Wombo combo".
Firebolt
------------------------
- Does a TOTAL of *** damage, not enough to kill even the lowest of armored guardians.(SEE EDIT)
-Has DoT for around 12 seconds (some say 14, some say 10)
-Firebolt has an 8m radius in which it tags.
EDIT
I just tested it and got the clip. When its active in around 10 mins ill post the link.
Initial tag for 85 damage.
11 ticks of 7 for DoT.
85+77 is 162.
My bad, i was off by 5.
This was tested on the lowest armor build a voidwalker can run.
Good for crowd control and good defensive technique. Does allow "tracking" by watching the DoT BUUUUUT warlocks are the slowest and clunkiest race so it is harder to chase the enemy. <---- thats called trade off. Warlocks can be situationally amazing and of course they will be harder to kill.. its a defensive subclass and is built that way.
Wombo Combo
------------------------------
-Takes away radar
-cuts movement speed by 50%
-does damage
-blinds the enemy visually
-locks abilities, supers, charged melees and jumps
^-----thats just the "Smoke" portion of the grenade.
Their void grenade choices all do damage and can visually impair other guardians trying to see or shoot through it.
BUT wombo requires both grenades to be thrown to be 100% effective. Dont forget how they can be thrown virtually simultaneously.
Its trade off. If the hunters had all of that in just ONE grenade then theyd actually be op.. but they aren't.
TL;DR
Neither are op and excel in certain situations better then other subclasses. But if you proceed to call one of them op in anyway then you HAVE to consider the other one as such.
Edit: So it seems alot of people are misunderstanding my point.
Im NOT saying firebolt and wombo is the same style or do the same things. What i AM saying is that most who consider firebolt "op" due to just its DoT must thrn consider wombo as "op" because wombo has 4 times the effects on an enemy and while it does take 2 charges, its also on a character that is faster then warlocks, has access to an evade and keen scout.
You cant consider something op due to one fact while ignoring classes that have alot of advantages similar in concept.
Edit: Alot of people keep saying that firebolts leave you at one shot. My response:how many other grenades do that? It doesnt matter HOW they do it, just THAT theydo it.
EDIT: SUNSINGER OP? CHECK THIS SHIT OUT.

Its just as strong imo.

Blade dancer master subclass
jk we need a hit detection nerf
I'd say firebolt with perks is op comparatively to other bolt grenades. A bolt grenade is effectively a wide area impact grenade. Naturally the balance point must be a weak damage output. This was Bungie's conclusion on the weakness of the grenade type. The counter point is that it requires the use of 2 perks to do so, but those 2 perks each boost the super and or melee as well. The other method to dealing with this aside from a damage reduction would be to put in a non class based counter to bolt grenades (ex stand still, crouch, or shot the axion bolts). The end result would be reduced effectiveness for non line of sight targets, while either maintaining a damage advantage and or a distraction advantage in a direct fight. Stopping moving, crouching or trying to shoot a bolt will likely give the bolt user an advantage in a gun fight.

#NerfTether is lasts too long with blackhole.
-
Wombo combo uses both your grenade and mele attack... Vs One firebolt grenade

The proper way to nerf it would be to increase base damage to 100 and have it burn for 8 ticks of 3 damage. That way it cannot kill and people arent out of the fight for 1/8th of a trials round.
-
None of the classes are really noticeably OP people just like to have an excuse when they get killed in the crucible.
-
I remember when I used to main a warlock never paid attention to hunters and Titans since I liked the warlock jumps better but after ttk dropped I slipped into the dark side of the light... Hunters and Titans and their OP supers...
-
Firebolt is actually 177.
-
Even if firebolts don't one shot they still bring you to absolutely no health
-
An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.
-
More crybabies, OMG!
-
They can also shadestep out of firebolts, axion bolts, and tracking rockets. Plus it makes it almost impossible to kill someone who's running with shadestep
-
Firebolt puts you out of the game for far too long & smokes come back way to fast for what they do. Their.. done.
-
Simply put fire bolt is way more OP After I kill you with my fire bolt I can go OHK you with my melee After a wombo combo I can only shoot you. Conversation ended Now go home
-
I think the problem with sunsingers is how long the DOT on firebolt takes you out of the fight as the target. 14 seconds is a LOOOOONG time in the crucible
-
call it a wombo combo again
i dare you
-
Smoke is bigger crutch than Firebolt and it's not even a nade. LOL.
-
The difference is that for a wombo combo to be effective, it has to trap me directly in the middle (or in a corner somewhere). If it tags me while I'm on the edge of it, especially on open maps, then I can get out of it with minimal damage taken. Firebolt burn on the other hand is consistent. It doesn't matter if it goes off right next to me, or on the very edge of its range, it'll still hit me for max damage, and the burn will still last just as long. While burning, the sunsinger can track me by the dot numbers, and my regen timer can't start, so that's ~12 seconds where my hp is going down, and then there's more time you have to wait for regen to kick on. That is a very long time for anyone to hit and kill you. If firebolt hit me for 157 damage right away, then it wouldn't be an issue, however it's the really long lingering dot that is the problem.
-
Basic gamer logic: What I use to kill others is ok and should not be touched. What people use to kill me is cheap, overpowered, and should be nerfed.
-
I main a hunter but here lately I've been leaning toward titan or warlock.I play them all they all have strengths and weaknesses. Don't stress the salt vendors and wreck with what works.
-
You're dumb af
-
I agree I hate both Nightstalkers and All warlocks, and BladeDancers. Titans you're cool
-
Indeed.
-
I stopped reading at its not enough to kill a low armored guardian to post this. While that may be true, even when max armor,it will take you down to an inch of health. Carrying on.
-
Idk about you, but I'd take any of the sticky nades over wombo combo any day of the week. Requires less aim, instakills, and only requires grenade charge.
