Okay, so ive seen alot of posts about Sunsingers and how "op" they are and its getting annoying.
Lets compare the infamous firebolt with the hunters "Wombo combo".
Firebolt
------------------------
- Does a TOTAL of *** damage, not enough to kill even the lowest of armored guardians.(SEE EDIT)
-Has DoT for around 12 seconds (some say 14, some say 10)
-Firebolt has an 8m radius in which it tags.
EDIT
I just tested it and got the clip. When its active in around 10 mins ill post the link.
Initial tag for 85 damage.
11 ticks of 7 for DoT.
85+77 is 162.
My bad, i was off by 5.
This was tested on the lowest armor build a voidwalker can run.
LINK TO FIREBOLT TEST http://xboxclips.com/Jet+The+Pirate/5c204455-581f-454f-b4ad-0bee431986b3
Good for crowd control and good defensive technique. Does allow "tracking" by watching the DoT BUUUUUT warlocks are the slowest and clunkiest race so it is harder to chase the enemy. <---- thats called trade off. Warlocks can be situationally amazing and of course they will be harder to kill.. its a defensive subclass and is built that way.
Wombo Combo
------------------------------
-Takes away radar
-cuts movement speed by 50%
-does damage
-blinds the enemy visually
-locks abilities, supers, charged melees and jumps
^-----thats just the "Smoke" portion of the grenade.
Their void grenade choices all do damage and can visually impair other guardians trying to see or shoot through it.
BUT wombo requires both grenades to be thrown to be 100% effective. Dont forget how they can be thrown virtually simultaneously.
Its trade off. If the hunters had all of that in just ONE grenade then theyd actually be op.. but they aren't.
TL;DR
Neither are op and excel in certain situations better then other subclasses. But if you proceed to call one of them op in anyway then you HAVE to consider the other one as such.
Edit: So it seems alot of people are misunderstanding my point.
Im NOT saying firebolt and wombo is the same style or do the same things. What i AM saying is that most who consider firebolt "op" due to just its DoT must thrn consider wombo as "op" because wombo has 4 times the effects on an enemy and while it does take 2 charges, its also on a character that is faster then warlocks, has access to an evade and keen scout.
You cant consider something op due to one fact while ignoring classes that have alot of advantages similar in concept.
Edit: Alot of people keep saying that firebolts leave you at one shot. My response:how many other grenades do that? It doesnt matter HOW they do it, just THAT theydo it.
EDIT: SUNSINGER OP? CHECK THIS SHIT OUT.
https://youtu.be/VM-SwPcMIwE
Its just as strong imo.
-
Idk about you, but I'd take any of the sticky nades over wombo combo any day of the week. Requires less aim, instakills, and only requires grenade charge.
-
Taking someone out of the battle for 12 seconds with firebolts is a bit OP. 12 seconds may not seem like a lot, but in a first person shooter 12 seconds seems like forever. They need to remove viking funeral as a a perk
-
I love both subclasses. Great team support subclasses. Wombo Combo is OP just as a well thrown firebolt. I fear when I run into three sunsingers in trials the same as I do when I run into nightstalkers. I am starting to fear the defender more and more as well. Defender OP
-
You are whining about hunters being able to kill someone with grenade + melee and your argument is that warlocks grenade doesn't even get close? Dude no shit every grenade + melee kills. The problem is that the warlock melee man kill BY IT SELF and that Firebolts almost do the same. With a DoT of 10 -blam!-ing hours. Warlocks are OP and have to be nerfed. Don't shove this on the hunters.

Well besides the inconsistent flame shield. The grenade is all the class has going for it too
-
U got to consider what can be properly countered and time allotted to do so given tje amount of effort for each Firebolts with burns take u out for over 10 seconds and leave u 1shot by anything No precise aiming is required and u can use a firebolt far more times than u can the wombo in any given match Only counter is shadestepping twice immediately, that of which you're severely limited in what class u have to use in order to have an inconsistent counter The wombo can incapacitate u limiting vision and mobility all while damaging u in the process. U actually do have to be precise instead of near and be in a direct line of sight to an opponent, that of which isn't a risk for firebolt usage Proper counters are mobility options and even arial approaches in engaging the shadowhunter. The wombo isn't always reliable or suitable to every situation, the amount of used is also less and dependent on ur simultaneous reserve of a grenade and melee, that of which melees recharge slower than grenades External factors like gear to argue points shows desperation so don't even try to include your own factors or biased doing so. They're both strong, but in no way is the wombo as easy, frequent, or as uncounterable as firebolts and burn. Anyone with a brain knows increased ttk to your ownself is a major advantage, thats extra time for u to deal damage and more damage others have to deal against u. Even up close a sunsinger can easily wreck a bladedancer unless you're just too slow and panic,

Edited by evomichel: 3/23/2016 6:30:58 PMIMHO, they should buff some (not every nerf was undeserved) stats back for the Sunbreaker, mainly damage, range, number of hammer... Fix hit detection on shoulder charge and hunter arc class super. Buff a lil bit of shotgun range, reduce the spread of fusion rifles, give back like 25~33 of what was taken from Hand cannons (both range and stability), buff the damage a little for high impact auto rifles and pulse rifles, incrase the stagger on sniper rifle (like 10-20%). and thats it.

I love you and this post, thank you. ~TheGreatReebok

Lol fire bolt that tags 8m lies. I blink away and get tagged
-
I agree, but you're fighting a losing battle. Common sense, logic and rational thinking are rare commodities here.
-
I didn't read anything accept but the title but I don't think there's any subclass that's OP right now.
-
Edited by Raider TCK: 3/23/2016 4:53:06 PMAll the 'whombo combo' does is exactly what a fusion grenade does, except you have no tracking. You throw it at someone and hit them, you get the kill. And you need to use your grenade and melee to do it. Firebolt you just throw them in the room your opponent is in, and that's it you have won the fight as your opponents wil take the initial damage then burn for a long time after. Which reveals their position and prevents them from recovering. Even if there are two of them in there. Then you have insane melee range (even when you don't have a melee charge) that does enough damage to kill a max health opponent if they have low armour, that does damage over time and gives an over shield on a hit (unlike defenders who require you to get the kill). Nightstalkers are good, shade step and clever tether use makes they great at evading and shutting down other players. But if the nightstalkers has any other grenade that was good in pvp, like axion bolt, fusion, magnetic, lightning grenades, tripmines or fire bolts, you would NEVER see the wombo combo again.
-
Firebolts are easily the best grenade in the game, hands down. That being said, for a class with no offensive super, it's a good trade off. To compare wombo and firebolt, id go with firebolt. To compare sunsinger to nightstalker? Don't even have a hunter and I can tell id go with nightstalker. Call me ignorant but most people who DO have both probably agree, lol
-
You don't need Firebolts to make a Sunsinger OP.
-
Nerf fusion rifles? Got it! ;)
-
But i already consider them both OP
-
All I read was sunbreaker needs a major buff
-
FUKK firebolt grenades....they are nasty but they aren't WHY sunsingers are OP scorch melee + shotgun = OP I hate that combo with a passion.....you melee me....and you get A FUKKING SHIELD!?!?!!? WHY????
-
Edited by Vrchue: 3/23/2016 4:00:05 PMWombo combo is the only thing op about night stalker, shade step is a little bit but you need to be good with it.
-
The wombo combo is a trade off, like you said by it doesn't acquaint to fire bolt because it doesn't keep you out the match for 14 seconds. Plus, it's a random chance. You could take about 40 damage from the wombo combo or you could just die. Depends really.
-
The wombo combo has to be thrown directly on an enemy and can be stepped out of. It's good, but you have to remember that it is kind of what makes the subclass. The super just feels like any other ability.
-
Wombo combo requires skill firebolt throw at an area
-
Firebolts essentially track around corners and can tag the whole team if placed right.
-
You forgot to mention the duration of the smoke grenade
-
Edited by Sixclicks: 3/23/2016 3:46:10 PMWombo combo uses both your melee and grenade charge... any class using both their melee and grenade charge will kill. So that's a pretty bad comparison to a grenade that only uses your grenade charge and takes you out of the fight for 14 seconds. Not to mention if you don't land the wombo combo right on them, they can easily get out of it and therfore take less damage. Firebolt will always do the same damage no matter how far away you are from the center of the damage radius within its range. Firebolt itself isn't OP. Viking Funeral however lasts way too long.
