Wombo combo requires a very precise throw while forebolt can be thrown in a general direction. And warlock extreme melee range combined with a shield is pretty annoying.

Wombo combo doesnt require a precise throw, yes, more so then firebolt but it also has its own AOE effect. Wombo also does 5 more effects then firebolt so thats where the trade off is.
