If you keep it at 50 hp and require it to have a shield then it loses its competitiveness . The reason why defenders make it competitive is because it lasts longer, has more hp and paired with no back up plans makes it a monster to have in cqc. Because of that, i would request added effects be put on the melee if it only procs on kill.
I can agree with flame shield being the only valuable perk in regards to how minimal the other perks are. Buffing them would make switching it up more viable option while still remaining competitive.
Firebolt may be easier to use in casual hands but when it comes to equally skilled people, bothbwill bebjust as effective. If we cant agree on it then we must agree to disagree.

Edited by Fridén: 3/23/2016 3:21:52 PMReally almost anything in skilled hands can be made competitive. I just find it hard to compare a single grenades damage an versatility to combination of abilities. I think your argument is fair. Firebolt adheres to more casual players, but the better nightstalker can cause just as much angst to a player as a Firebolt grenade. Defenders melee is built around force barrier, which is why it lasts longer and why it has more HP. Lets not throw exotic builds into the mix here. Yes, no back up planes is a great setup with a shotgun, but that is another argument. The sunsingers melee is not built around the additional shield. It is built around the range and damage. Flame shield is only a bonus. This is what separates it from the defender. Without force barrier, Disintegrate is worthless, without flame shield, you still have the best melee in the game.
