I didn't buy the taken king (because I'm not a sucker). Do I get anything? Do I get access to new weapons and an upgrade to how high I can level my character? Or is it still pay to play?

It is pay to play. It's an update on THE TAKEN KING. Why would they need to cater to people stuck in y1?
