12 RepliesWRONG! Easter originally a Saxon word (Eostre), denoting a goddess of the Saxons, in honor of whom sacrifices were offered about the time of the Passover. Hence the name came to be given to the festival of the Resurrection of Christ, which occurred at the time of the Passover. In the early English versions this word was frequently used as the translation of the Greek pascha (the Passover). When the Authorized Version (1611) was formed, the word "passover" was used in all passages in which this word pascha occurred, except in Act 12:4 . In the Revised Version the proper word, "passover," is always used.

And fertility also represents Spring, the rebirthing of decent weather and plants (sorry/not sorry lower-equator dwellers). I just represent Easter with candy and Spring.

7 RepliesYes , Most Holidays associated with Christianity are Pagan celebrations that the Church decided to change so that recently converted Pagans would feel more comfortable. Easter is associated with Jesus because he was resurrected three days after his execution , and according to the current calendar , Easter always falls three days after the Spring Equinox. Our current society has regulated it to be the next Sunday after the Spring equinox. Because every thing with God has to fall on a Sunday. Soon Christmas will too.
