What a fuсking mess. The film's called Batman vs Superman, yet you only see them fight for 10 minutes (which is the best part of the film) until they stop fighting because "durr our moms have the same name guess you're alright then". The film makers then collectively said "fuсk it" and threw in a giant ogre for some reason. It literally comes out of nowhere (somehow General Zod's body + Lex Luthor's blood + broken alien ship = giant planet destroying ogre), and then the climax is just them fighting Doomsday. Then, Superman dies, which you can see coming from a mile away, and they proceed to have a giant funeral only for Superman to actually be alive, thus negating any potential tension in the inevitable sequels, since Superman cannot die. Up until the climax, I thought it was pretty good, but there was a real lack of a clear direction. Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg are shoehorned in so they can make an Avengers rip off, there's a weird post-apocalyptic dream that goes on way too long and just disappears afterwards, the whole question of "Should there be a Superman?" gets dropped halfway through etc. It just felt like it was trying to be too many movies at once. Also, Lex Luthor's a blatant Joker rip off, just cringey as hell. They nailed Batman though. I loved the subtleties of the character, like seeing Robin's suit with the Joker's writing on it, and you can really see why he's more fuсked up than usual. Just watched the film, venting what I thought.
